Rob and I met at work which was a beach resort. I had worked there for 4 years before I decided I needed a change. I left for a year and came back in November of `97. Rob started working there in January of `97. He was in maintenance and I was a waitress.
I was totally lost in him. He was so quiet and yet looked so angry. I thought he must party too much or is a manic depressive. I asked a few co-workers about him and they all said he didn`t talk much and seemed pretty shy. He, in turn, began asking about me and was suprised to find out I had stopped working there just a few months after he came to work there. One of my co-workers was getting a bit fed up with me losing track of our conversations everytime he walked by and told me she was going to tell him I liked him. I felt like such a school kid! She did it and he told her to tell me (remember, he was really shy and couldn`t work up the nerve to talk to me himself) to meet him after work at a popular employee`s hangout. I couldn`t go, Thanksgiving was the day after and I had to see my parents off on their out-of-town trip. I saw him the day after Thanksgiving and asked him out. He was so shocked! I couldn`t believe I had done it but what did I have to lose? He said yes and it`s been wonderful since!
He is not the angry person he portrayed himself to be. And he`s not a quiet person either. He`d been hurt in relationships in the past and was just living life without looking for a woman to spend his time with. He had been hurt and seen what his friends went through in their relationships and basically backed off of the idea of having a great relationship. He says he doesn`t know what it was about me that made him come out of his shell and I can`t figure it out either! His friends and family have told me he`s changed alot and I`m glad he`s happy now.
Rob and I started planning our wedding less than 2 months after our 1st date and we`ve been inseperable since. We`ve only not seen each other on one day and that was a few days after we met ( I gave him a wicked cold I had just gotten over before we went out on our first date). We`ve been married now for a little over a year and together for over 2 years. We feel this was meant to be and obviously it was!
