John T. Smith was born about 1826 in North Carolina. He married Martha "Pasty" MATTHEWS December 11, 1844 in Stoke Co., North Carolina.
This family left North Carolina after the birth of there son
William T. P. Smith. He was born in North Carolina February
11 1850. They traveled by Wagon Train through Tennessee
because their son David T. Smith was born in Tennessee
October 29, 1852. They were in Benton Co., Arkansas,
Maysville area by the year 1856. They had son Levi born in
Arkansas in 1856. I found this family in the 1860 Census for
Benton Co., Arkansas. The three older children,Francis Jane
"Fanny" Smith, William T.P. Smith and David Smith moved to
Johnson Co., Texas after 1870 and was there by 1873.Francis
Jane "Fanny" and her brother William Smith were married the
same day, January 17, 1867, by the same Minister. They leave
Johnson Co., Texas and are in Comanche Co., Texas by the
1880 Census. They are living in the same household. This
leave me to believe that the men probable were very good
friends also. John T. and Martha "Pasty"
MATTHEWS Smith were in Johnson Co., TX for 1880 Census. I was told they moved
first to Tarrent Co., Texas and then to Oklahoma. William
Julius "Willie Joe" and Francis Jane "Fanny" SMITH Skaggs
settles in the Rock Bluff Community. They help organize the
Rock Bluff Church.They were charter members. Later William
Skaggs will be the pastor of this Church. William T.P. Smith
and his family leaves Comanche Co., Texas and goes back to
Johnson Co., Texas. David T. Smith and his family end up in
Eastland Co.,Texas. The next county to Comanche Co., Texas.
From David T. Smith death certificate I learn the name of
his mother, Pasty Matthews. From Bill Rice I was given more
information on Martha Matthews.

Francis Jane "Fanny" Smith was born August 24, 1847 in North Carolina., and died May 28, 1904 in the Rock bluff Community, Comanche Co., Texas. She married William Julius "Willie Joe" Skaggs Jan 17, 1869 in Benton Co., Arkansas. He was the son of David and Elizabeth Irene MURPHY Skaggs.
