I recommend the Watauga County Heritage books, Vols. 1 & 2 which were published in the 80's. Anyone with roots in early Watauga County will find these books invaluable to researching many of the early settlers.
Vol. 1 is in the process of being printed again.

Steve Sudderth who is with the Blowing Rock Historical Society has told me the Blowing Rock Historical Society and the Genealogical Society of Watauga County have the voter regeristration for Blowing Rock for sale with the proceeds to go to both groups. This is a copy of the originals with dates from 1890 to 1907. (Not transcribed) Keep in mind - there are no 1890 Census Records, so information found in these Registration Records could prove invaluable to your research! For more information, you can contact Steve sudd@boone.net. Steve can be contacted by phone.
