As you may notice, our layout has changed. This is in order to improve its flow and appearance. A new games section, designed to increase awareness and knowledge of the Bible, (and for fun) has been included. And most importantly, prayer requests are added to this, the hard-copy voice of our church. Welcome to Volume II of your church's newsletter!

I think it is in order to thank former Editor Maureen McClain on all the hard work she did on getting the first newsletter started and keeping it going.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL A SUCCESS!

Students, Teachers and Helpers got a lot out of VBS this year

Due to a slight change of plans, this year's Vacation Bible School was changed to a one day event-- Friday July 24th. 6 children attended this year. Children learned about ancient Jerusalem and their customs, games, and practices. (some even got their feet washed!) The kids also got to try their hand at woodworking in a make-shift carpenter's shop. To top off the day's activity, Denton's own master sculptor, Lemme, prepared a demonstration, comparing God to a potter, and our lives to the clay. The kids are still refering to Lemme's demonstration when asked questions about God in Sunday School! A special thanks goes out to all who participated and organized the event.

FELLOWSHIP EVENING...

It was reported that 20+ people showed up for the Fellowship Evening for July. The main attraction for the event was for every one to bring something they had written, (i.e. a poem, short story, song, etc.). Some talent we have within our small church!

YOUNG ADULTS GROUP... Melanie, Andy, Melanie's roomate Hope, and Laura attended the Young Adults' (ages 18-32, give or take a year) bowling outing on July 11th. They had a good time, though the bowling skills have a lot to be desired (Hey, it was all in fun, right?)! The actual scores will not be included in this month's newsletter.

CHURCH BUILDING GETS A FACE-LIFT! Many of our congregation were pleasantly surprised to see improvements made to the appearance of our building last week! Window sills were painted white, as well as the doors, which were also stenciled with 'Welcome'. The stairs to the fellowship hall entrance were painted a brick red, and flowers were planted near the entrances. Kudos to Sharon, Dianne, Charlotte, Melanie and anyone else who participated in this effort. We look a 100 times more alive, now!

EMC General Conference Report: A new superindent was elected for our denomination: Dr. Ed Williamson. Please keep this man in your prayers and that our denomination will grow into the 21st century and stay obedient to God. "Speakers were absolutley fantastic. There was dancing in the aisles. The singing was beyond belief", says our preacher Charlie Mulholand, who was our delegate for this conference. From what we have been told, it must have been a tremendous gathering.

Mother and I would like to thank the church for its thoughts, prayers, and flowers during this recent time-- The loss of my brother, Johnny. He was a 'good fellow' and a Christian, and I have no doubt where he is. Joy and the children are doing well and getting ready for school.

Pray for the continued expansion of the EMC, and that our leadership will seek God in all decisions made.

Pray for the growth of our small church. And that we may be able to provide whatever is required for that growth.

Pray for all of our sick, and that God will heal those we bring before him during our services and in our personal prayers.

Pray for our collge students-- That they may succeed and do well in their classes. Pray also for their spiritual integrity.

Don't forget to THANK God for the good things He has already done for us!

International Evangelical Choir

Mrs. Diana Johnson is in the process of organizing an Choir whose purpose it will be to proclaim the message of Salvation using Christian music, and to reaffirm the use of hymn singing and harmony as part of worship and fellowship.

The formation of this choir is open to all interested people from any denomination, and isn't intended to conflict with any existing church choir with which you may belong.

The music-- A reminder of an army of writers and composers through whom has been amassed a rich treasure of Christian music-- will be expressed by Christians witnessing to the uniting love of Christ, cutting through denomiation, age and color, representing the family of God. Organizational Meeting is Saturday, September the 12th, from 9:00am to 10:00am. Coffee, Donuts, and Bagels provided and graciously accepted!
