My Mother's Recipe
Latkes in Meat Stew (Jewish)
You need for Meat Stew: Beef - 1 kg (2 lbs)
Onions - 2 average
Oil for frying
Some water
salt, black pepper, laurel
Fry chopped onions until brownish, add
chopped beef, and leave to stew for half an hour. From time to time add some water and lwt
the whole thing cook unitl meet is tender. Add salt, pepper and laure. It's important for
the stew to be juicy.
For latkes you need: Potatoes - 7 average
Eggs - 2
Flower - 3 tablespoonfuls
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Grind potatoes, add eggs, flour, salt
and stir it all. Take a tablespoonful of the batter and poor it on heated oily frying pan.
Brown latkes from both side.
Well, it's time to mix latkes and
stew together, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
And remember - you can serve
latkes without any meet, etc. Just latkes, they are perfect when dipped into
mayonaise or sour cream.

Mother-In-Law's Recipe
Honey Cake
For dough you need: Honey - 3 tablespoonfuls
Butter - 1 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Eggs - 2
Baker's powder - 1/2 teaspoonful
Flour - 3 cups
Mix honey, sugar and butter, add eggs,
bakers' powder, flour and make hard dough. Then part it into 3, and pat each until thin
and round. Put on preheated oily or flour dusted skillet and bake at 180 degrees Celcium
for 5-7 minutes.
For cream you need: Sour cream - 1 1/4 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Walnuts - 1/2 cup (optional)
Whip sour cream and sugar together,
put some onto each cookie, and spread the rest on top. Cover with walnuts.
