I am seeking the ancestors of my great grandmother Mary Louisa Rowland, born 28 November 1855 at Nashville, Wilson Co., TN.  She married Horatio Gates Lane of Rutherford Co., TN on 4 May 1870 at Princeton KY.  They lived most of their lives in Hardin Co., IL and had many children.  Mary Louisa Rowland Lane died 26 Feb 1941.  Her death certificate lists Jesse and Elizabeth Rowland as her parents.

Does anyone know anything about Jesse and Elizabeth Rowland and their families?

Hi, to all! I am stumped! My greatgrandfather was William H. Roland. He was born 1863 and died in 1921 in Ashland, Ohio. He was married to a May Roland, but I don't know her maiden name. She was born 1874 died 1952 also died in Ashland, Ohio. Is there anyone from Ohio with this heritage?

Dr. William A. ROWLAND of Greene Co., GA married Sallie HUDSON, daughter of Wilham HUDSON.
I'd like to know who his parents were.

In 1869, there was a legal notice involving the estate of Dr. John G. ROWLAND. I'd like to know more about the Dr. Who were his parents?

There is a legal notice for Sarah ROWLAND's estate sale in 1858. Does anyone know who she was and if she was born a ROWLAND?

In 1867, there was a notice for the estate of William ROWLAND. James J. & A. W. ROWLAND were administrators. Were they his sons? Who was William ROWLAND?

My Dad, Cline "Clyde" SIMPKINS, (born 1911 in Logan Co., WVa, died 1969 in PA), had ROWLAND cousins [his first cousins].

His Grandparents married in Jackson, Breathitt Co., Kentucky.   Greenberry Caudill SIMPKINS and Ida Belle OSBORNE  were his parents, and they md in 1904.

Grandfather Greenberry Caudill SIMPKINS was born c1878 in Breathitt or Owsley Co., KY. His sister, Rose Caudill Simpkins was born c1867 Owsley Co., married  John ROWLAND. He was born in Owsley Co., KY too. John and Rose and 6 of their children were listed on the 1900 Lee Co., KY and then on the 1910 Breathitt Co., KY census.

I have been trying to find who John's parents were, since there were so many TIREY and ROWLAND/ROLAND ties, and I have two direct lines to the TIREY-TYREE-TYRA-TIRE family.

John and Rose with their sons, Robert and Charles are buried in Breathitt Co., KY. There was an older John ROWLAND buried near Rose's grave. Was this his Father?

I have ties to Madison, Mercer and Estill Co., KY  with my TYREE family, this is the tree of my Grandmother Ida Belle OSBORNE SIMPKINS,  born c1885 in Menifee Co., KY. Her Great-Grandparents, Anderson and Elizabeth BUTNER TYREE, married in 1826 Madison Co. KY.

I do not know if it was a sister or cousin to Anderson. Mahala TYREE married David I. ROWLAND in Madison Co., KY around 1826. Does anyone know more on him or her?

Back to John and Rose ROWLAND. They married around 1887 in Owsley Co., KY and had their first daughter born there,  Laura ROWLAND md. OAKS. [had children born in Breathitt Co., KY and raised a family in Middletown, Ohio and Hamilton Ohio.

John and Rose's children:
1. Laura  [md Arthur OAK..listed on the 1910 Breathitt Co. KY, raised a family in Ohio].

2. Florence [never md.  She was a head nurse, in Jefferson Co., Alabama [Birmingham] in 1937.  May have stayed in Alabama until 1952... she went to Middletown, OH, she died in 1980.]

3.Robert  [died 1938 in Detroit....his sisters went and brought his body to KY. Had sons and one daughter listed on his obit.]

4. Walker  [died in Middletown, Ohio in the 1980's]

5.Charles  [buried in Jackson Cemetery in Breathitt Co., KY]

6. Edna

7.Lillie [md Russell LITTLE].  She was in Estill Co., KY  in the 1980's.  Lived in Hazard, KY in 1937-38.

8.William [twin to Lillie]

9.Nora [md WRAY]. She died in the 1980's in Middletown, Ohio.

In the Jackson Cemetery in Breathitt Co., KY; in  the Breathitt Co. Cemetery book, Vol 3:
#906  John ROWLAND, born 3 Jan 1867.  [His obit has him being born in Owsley Co.].  He died 22 Dec. 1921. I could not find his death record from KY.  J O U A M  masonic emblem is on his stone. He was the one who md Rose Caudill Simpkins  [sister to my Grandfather].

# 936  Charlie ROWLAND, born 22 Sept 1893, died 16 Dec 1912.

# 937 Robert ROWLAND, died 8 July 1938

#938   Lizzie SIMPKINS died 1912 Oct., age 71... she may of been Rose's mother

? #939 John S... , born 16 Oct. 1809, died 18 April 1902. I have found nothing more on him,  can't find how he ties to John above...need help!

#940  Rose Caudill Simpkins ROWLAND. 12 May 1857 [the census shows she was born in 1867]. She died July 13, 1937... at her daughter, Lillie LITTLE's home in Hazard, KY.

Can anyone help me with this... how does John tie to the older John above? Rose and my Grandfather had a Grandmother who was a TIREY and then my Grandmother Ida Belle OSBORNE SIMPKINS's Mother was a TYREE-TIREY

I am researching Stephen M. Rowland born about 1790.  It has been passed down that he was born in Pennsylvania and migrated to Franklin/Jefferson counties in Mississippi with some other settlers.  He married Sarah Minerva Stampley in 1818 in Jefferson County, MS and they made their home at Roxie, in Franklin County, MS.  I have never located Stephen's parents...  Maybe someone can help me.

I'm researching the Rowlands surname.  My ancesters came from England (I'm thinking the Cornwall area--I need to do a little more research on that) to Wilkes-Barre, PA (Luzerne County).  My ggrandfather's name was Edgar S. Rowlands b. 1898 in PA,  d. 1965. His parents were Robert Rowlands b. 1872, d. 1945 and Margaret E. Paul Rowlands b. 1879, d. 1949.  Robert's father was also named Robert Rowlands.  Both Roberts, from what my family has told me (I have a great-Uncle also named Robert Rowlands), have no middle names.

Let me know if anyone is also researching the Rowlands surname from PA. Thanks!

Looking for connections to the children of Henry (b.1748 Wales) & Mary (b. 1758 unk.) Rowland of Washington & Beaver Counties in PA.  Henry Rowland served in the Revolutionary War from Lancaster Co., PA, migrated to Washington Co. probably sometime during the 1780's.

ISSUE:

1.  Thomas ROWLAND,  b. 7 January  1779.  We don't know what happened to Thomas, supposedly settled in the southwest.  He is not mentioned in a deed for the family farm, executed by the heirs of Henry & Mary Rowland in 1827.

2.  Margaret ROWLAND, b. 5 June 1781, m. Jacob THURSTON, settled in Columbiana Co., OH.

3.  Sarah ROWLAND, b. 28 July 1783, m. Adam DEEMS. Family info indicates that they settled in the "Scioto Valley" area of OH.  My research indicates that Sarah and some of her children may have lived near younger brothers, Henry & James Rowland in the Licking & Muskingum areas, then onto Shelby Co., OH.

4.  William ROWLAND, b. 17 March 1785, m. 21 March 1808, Mary STILLWAGEN, d. 5 Sept. 1863 in Lawrence Co., PA. (I do have more info on his children)

5.  Henry ROWLAND, b. 12 July 1787, m. before 1810 PA, Esther/Hester JAMISON, d. 27 March 1857, Kosciusko Co., IN (my line; 1820 Licking Co., OH>1830 Muskingum>1840/50 Shelby Co., OH>IN).

6.  John ROWLAND, b. 10 Nov 1789, m. c1813 Margaret , m. 2nd before 1840 Mrs. Mary Dewey Joice, d. 10 Sept. 1868 Nashville, Holmes Co., OH.

7.  Jonathan ROWLAND, b. 31 March 1792, m.  unknown.     Supposed to have lived in Wayne Co., OH, and later descendants lived in Fort Wayne, IN.

8.  James ROWLAND, b. 29 April 1794, m. 6 July 1816 in Licking Co. OH, Jane JAMISON, d. 11 Feb 1853 in Kosciusko Co., IN. (I have more info on this line, James remains near his brother, Henry)

Happy to share info if anyone has connections.  The dates of birth for these children are said to have been taken from the family bible of William & Mary (Stillwagen) Rowland of Lawrence Co., PA.

I'm try trying to find more information on the parents of James Wesley A. ROWLAND.  On his death certificate his parents are listed as Wylie ROWLAND (born in Greene Co, GA) and Elizabeth Akers (born in Greene Co, GA). They were married 12 Oct 1826 in Greene Co, GA.

I'm also curious about Wiley B. ROWLAND born 1834 in GA. I think he may have been James' older brother.  Wiley B. spent a lot of time in Carroll Co., GA.
