1 Corinthians 7:12-15 "...If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband..."

Beloved_unbeliever was created as a support and encouragement list for born again Christians who are married to unbelievers, (called unequally yoked in the Bible). Many of us have to deal with issues that are not faced by the majority of other Christians, married or single. This list is meant to be a gathering place where we can help each other through some of our struggles and concerns.

My name is Dawn and I have been married to an unbeliever for 17 years. He is a wonderful husband and I have been blessed in so many ways being his wife. Yet there is a great gulf between us...my belief in Jesus, in my desire to follow Him and be holy.

I am fortunate that my husband supports my faith (this is not always the case in these kinds of marriages) and will occasionally come to church himself. He drives me to church functions and over the years has even taken a stand against issues like abortion, evolution and things like that. But that is as far as it goes. He isn't interested in talking about spiritual things at all and his lifestyle is often at odds with a Bible centered way of living.

To be honest, I find myself fence sitting too often, which I really don't want to do. Sometimes it's just so hard to live the way I know that God wants me to. It's conflicting being with someone who lives a lifestyle which in some ways is at odds with the holy life God wants us to have and that I am seeking to live. I feel pulled it two directions all the time. Some of you may feel this way too and need the prayers and encouragement of the members of this list. We look forward to hearing from you.
