In Loving Memory of

      Casey Lee Melton

      Aug 7, 1981 - May 9, 1998

Casey was a beautiful girl. She kept a smile at all times. She and a friend were on their way home after a night at the prom and midnight bowling when they were struck from behind by a drunk driver and Casey's car was pushed into a flooded field and completely submerged. Her friend was able to escape with minor injurys but Casey, unable to free herself, drowned.

Casey was a junior at Crockett County High School. She was a member of SADD (Students against Drunk Driving), FTA (Future Teachers of America) and a very popular year book staffer. She had many friends that will miss her dearly including her boyfriend of over 1 year, Shannon Talley.

Casey, the daughter of William E. Melton and Diann Parnell leaves her sisters Denise Goodwin, Maelynn Lumley, Paulette Wilkes, and Deanna Gatlin and a brother Brandon Melton. Her nieces and nephews , Taron, Amber, Marilyn and David Riggs, Stephanie Kirby, Krystal and Michael Lumley, Jordon and Kaylee Wilkes, Nathan Gatlin and Blake and Austin Melton.

Casey attended Smyrna Baptist Church with her boyfriend and his family. Her faith was strong and she was a christian.

Casey we all love and miss you dearly.

When somebody dies, a cloud turns into an angel,
and flies up to tell God to put another flower on a pillow.
A bird gives the message back to the world,
and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry.
People disappear but they never really go away.
The spirits up there put the sun to bed, wake up grass,
and spin the world in dizzy circles.
Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the daytime,
when they're susposed to be sleeping.
They paint the rainbows and also the sunsets
and makes waves splash and tug at the tide.
They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes.
And when they sing wind songs , they whisper to us,
"Don't miss me too much. The view is nice and I'm doing just fine."
