We are about 75 miles North of Syracuse and just a few minutes from the Canadian boarder and the Saint Lawrence River. Black River is a pretty little village with friendly people and great neighbors. We have a new library, a playground for the kids, (actually two), a barber shop, a post office and a "quickie-type" store for groceries and gas, and everything is within walking distance. There is also a nice senior citizen's apartment complex, five churches( You can hear the bells ringing on Sunday mornings!) a dentist office, a sub shop a pizza place and an ice cream stand. |

We are just a short, scenic drive from the Saint Lawrence River and the fabulous Thousand Islands. While we may sound like a tourism ad for northern New York, we think our area is pretty special. While winters can seem long (and some times be treacherous) our Autumns are spectacular and our Springs and Summers are definitely worth it. (We think.) :-)

Once you have visited Alex Bay, be sure to visit some of the other great river communities including Clayton, where Thousand Island Salad Dressing was first served, Cape Vincent, where you can take the Ferry to Canada, and historic Sackets Harbor, where you can see a reenactment of a land and river battle fought during the War of 1812. |
