Why

Standing looking at this beautiful sunset,
I wonder why everything happens the way it does.
We all face a tragedy at one point in our lives, yet the world moves on.
It is one of life's mysteries, I have been told.
But why must someone so young and vital never have the chance to grow old?
Why is there hunger and abuse in this world?,
Why can we not have that special someone to comfort and hold?
The little ones, why must they suffer as they do,
going to bed hungry, with tears spilling down cheeks pale and without hue
But then I see that perfect sunset with a new insight.
It is not for us to question or wonder the whys.
God has a reason for everything that befalls,
we may never know the answers to the mysteries after all.
When we lose someone we love we have to be strong.
For God has called upon them and beckoned them home.
The hungry children with wide , vacant eyes,
surely if we all worked together we could conquer their cries.
There is so much violence in this world, people ask why...
...some just say but for the Grace of God go I.
I can not accept that, I am sorry to say.
I cry for the children, the homeless, the poor and the sick.
My heart breaks for the missing children we have not found yet.
Then it dawns on me, like the brilliance of that sunset,
God has not turned His back on us, oh no, not yet.
It is up to us to stop the violence adn strife,
to bring those missing babies home,
to help the sick get well, the homeless a place to call "home".
We have been given gifts , though to some it seems naught,
to fight the battles, to strengthen our lot.
The gifts, I recognize as I gaze out at the sea..
God gave us the gifts of compassion , of love, of understanding...of life.
Yes, to you ...and to me.
