Legendary Poms got its start in the 1970s with . . . (collie picture) That's right! We began with collies. One of our favorites was Jodicol Legendary Ms Merrill. She is shown winning best puppy in match at big specialty in Beverly Hills, CA. She lived with her friend Queen and us for 13 years.
Collies were just too labor-intensive for a full-time teacher such as myself, so a smaller breed seemed in order. Pomeranians were just the ticket.
My husband, Jim, picked out the first puppy. She was just four months old when she moved in, and we named her Legendary Jim's Little Lassie. She never did much winning, and we were unsuccessful in our attempts to breed her. She is, however, still going strong at almost 14 years of age. She is Best of Breed in Jim's heart to this day.
After several years, Legendary Poms moved to Missouri. We live in a rural area where dogs can have some space to play. An important pomeranian person lives just an hour away. Her name is Nina Epps, and she has made such an important contribution to my dog life. After moving here, I contacted Nina and bought a show prospect from her.
One thing led to another and before long I had bred Ch Legendary Sing Noel (picture). She was tube-fed and a bottle baby--almost always shown in the Bred-by class--and my FIRST CHAMPION! I was hooked!
Poms continue to be a big part of my life, but another breed is now on the scene as well. After years of traveling with my good friend and mentor, Vicky Dooms of Karasu Oka Akitas, it was time for a joint venture. Something a little smaller for Vicky--something a little larger for me.
We decided on Australian Shepherds. We now co-own a beautiful black tri bitch, Ch Rockin K's Ashley (picture), and a blue merle bitch puppy, McMatt's PC Miss Muffett. The Aussies live with me, but are loved by Vicky as well.
