What we love about Cats

That independence of theirs, freeing us from being worshipped, a state dog owners seem to relish.
That just watching them stretch and sun themselves lowers our blood pressure.
That if you drop a piece of very soft fabric on the floor, a cat will be curled up on it within minutes.
That their favorite spot for a nap is on the spread out newspaper we're reading or the report we're writing.
That they can gobble up a new food, savoring each bit, but the next time we serve the same dish, they turn up their noses.
That they don't do tricks for us, or at least very few.
That they let us live with them.

Water, unless it's for drinking
Being talked down to
Owners vacationing without them or, worse, taking them along
Loud, sudden noises
Being decorated with ribbons, funny hats, and so on
Owners turing over in bed just when the cat is comfortably snuggled there and dozing off
Trips to the vet
Car rides, since they're almost always trips to the vet
Being told they're the biggest, fattest cat that person has ever seen
Being tripped over or stepped on (esp. their tails)
Not getting a table scrap they've sat patiently waiting for for 15 minutes
