SWIM - From Kentucky to Texas

Welcome to the SWIM genealogy page!

My Swim family genealogy is well documented back to Alexander and Margaret (Trumbo) Swim. Alexander was born circa 1770 and was in Kentucky before 1795. He is first found in Bourbon Co., Kentucky, in that portion that later became Clark and then Montgomery County and is now Bath County, Kentucky. His family moved to Fleming (now Rowan) County in 1805, near Cranston, just outside Morehead where both he and Margaret died, he in 1814 and she in 1835.

Alexander and Margaret married either soon after he came to Kentucky, or possibly before and moved to Kentucky with her Trumbo family. Her parents, John and Mary (Custer) Trumbo moved to Kentucky from Hampshire County, Virginia (now West Virginia) through Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania.

Alexander was a Captain in the Cornstalk Militia of Kentucky and served in the War of 1812 in Capt. Thomas Evans Co., Col. Wm. E. Boswell's Regiment and was either wounded or killed in that war. Margaret drew a widow's pension based on his service.
