Where Am I Going?
Where are you going
Where have you been
You made all these memories
Down through the years
As time keeps on passing
Where are your friends
Where are you going
Where have you been
Now you never look back
And you never forget
There's only one life
For your happiness
You'll make it somehow
You know that you can
So pick up the pieces
Start over again
Now since I met you
I know where I stand
You gave me the answers
When you held out your hand
As time goes by slowly
You are my friend
Now I know where I'm going
I know where I've been

*The above poem is dedicated to my husband Doug, who has brought me happiness in our years together.*
UMWA
This poem is for the miners all through-out this land
They never give up and they never back down
And what we need is maybe, new meaning of the words
So listen as I name them and I tell you one by one

U-Is for the universe-every man, woman and child
M-Is for the many who's fighting for their rights
W-For the world, for me and you
A-Is still America, the red, white and blue

Now if my dad was still here he would be so proud
He would be the one in the middle when they all went marching down
And he always told his children you must fight for your rights
Cause you can't blame a family man if he wants a better life
So lets all stand together behind the working man
Just like our father's before us as they each one built this land
And when you go to bed at night and kneel down to pray
Don't forget to say an extra prayer for the miner's of today

And remember:
U-Is for the universe, every man, woman and child
M-Is for the many who's fighting for their rights
W-For the world, for me and you
A-Is still America, the red, white and blue

*The poem UMWA is in memory of my dad, who was a coal miner for over thirty years. In his earlier years working in the mines, Dad was hurt when coal fell in a mine shaft and broke his back. He went to work three years later, (with screws in his back) after the doctors said he would never work again. He was a hard worker & firm believer in the union.*
