Being a Lhasa Apso

Let's see, the best way to describe ME!

I guess the best way would be to give you a few excerpts from Cathy Marley M. D. 's page,
Made in Tibet.

Please check out her site from the credit page. It is titled Kai La Sha and has a lot of interesting facts and tidbits about Lhasa Apso's.

What makes a Lhasa Apso? In just one word, Tibet. Many breeds are obviously man made, showing little evidence of natural selection for a particular environment. The Tibetan breeds are more obviously the products of nature. There are four recognized Tibetan breeds. Of these, the Lhasa Apso most clearly displays the "Made in Tibet" stamp.

As for us personally, we really are a very calm dog. We were bred as sentinels for monasteries. We are very leery of strangers and like things kept the same. We do not like a lot of confusion. If someone comes around a lot, they are considered family and not bothered. If they are new to the house, stranger beware, I come to action.

If I bark, you had better look to see what I am barking at. Even if it is just the cats on the porch, I will not stop barking until someone comes to check it out personally.

I can tolerate the small changes but really don't like anything way out of the ordinary happening at my house. I keep a tight ship and expect all humans to follow my rules. I make them for a reason. I may not have to tell them my reasons, but they are there.

My Doghouse on the net is slightly different. Here on the Internet you are my welcomed guest and I will guard you while you are here also.

I beg of you to please check out Cathy's page for the details on the Lhasa Apso. I haven't studied up on the rest of them the way that she has. I just know about me. And frankly, I have to many duties here to keep up with.
