Without much encouragement, Roger and Jay will tell you all about their cannon, a replica of a 12lb. mountain howitzer, and what a big bang it makes! And all about their "authentic" encampments, living life as it was lived in a military camp of the 1860's...and about their battles, that are all "scripted" and re-enactments of actual battles of the Civil War...It is a Civil War history buff's dream! On occasion, I go with Roger for a weekend encampment, (yes, the ladies get involved, too!) and have slept on a cot in an 1860 style military canvas tent, cooked over an open fire using cast iron cookware, dressed up in "period" style clothing, and "shopped" in a tent city called Suttlers' row; even attended a Sunday morning Church service under God's bright blue sky! It's not always the most comfortable weekend, but always interesting, informative, and truly a "trip back in time" to a whole other world! (Really makes you appreciate electricity, and indoor plumbing!!)

The re-enactments have all kinds of troops...including cavalry and infantry..at one time, the 14th Georgia group was affiliated with the 2nd Tennesse Cavalry..They broke off a few years ago to go it on their own as the 14th Georgia Artillery.
