MOTHER'S PAGE.......and Grandma's too!

I am dedicating this page to Mom's (and grandma's), mine especially, but I wish to include all of those out there that are a Mom (and grandmother) too!

Too often we are taken for granted, ignored, tolerated, and the bad guy. I wish to say thank you to those women who have put forth their effort and will to make their children better human beings. This is to let you know that your efforts, though seem endless and tiresome, will one day become proud accomplishments when your children turn to you for advice, instead of running away now when you offer it.

You are the foundation of your family and that is the greatest achievement you can ever gain. You hold what we call the "family" together and without your constant daily efforts, your family would cease to be.

When I refer to Mom's I am also including those men out there that have taken over that role, whether from divorce, death, or whatever reason there is that no woman is "Mom", you deserve the same recognition for your efforts to hold your family together.

The Watcher-Mother

She always leaned to watch for us,
Anxious if we were late
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate;

And though we mocked her tenderly,
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe
Because she waited there.

Her thoughts were all so full of us
She never could forget!
And so I think that where she is
She must be watching yet,

Waiting till we come home to her,
Anxious if we are late
Watching from Heaven's window,
Leaning from Heaven's gate.

TO ME BEING A MOTHER IS:

when you take the time to listen to your children, instead of telling them you are too busy.
kissing the boo-boo that isn't really bad, but scary enough to bring tears, giving extra attention to them.
reading their favorite story at bedtime, a million times, for years and yet never telling them you are tired of it.
rocking them to sleep at 6 years or older after they have a nightmare, not telling them they are too big for that anymore.
smiling and telling them that the horrible fingerpaint "art" is beautiful, while holding back that laugh so you don't hurt their feelings.
not yelling when you just mopped the floor and here they come stomping through after having a mud battle.
holding back the tears from their first reading part in a play, so you don't embarress them in front of their friends.
answering a million and one questions and never telling them to shut-up because your tired of answering.
telling them you love them everyday, no matter what they have done.
helping them overcome their problems, instead of ignoring them and saying they will get better.

FOR MY MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER

Your influence in my life has made me what I am today. There are lessons I learned that I pass onto my children and I hope they will learn from my mistakes and if they don't then I know how to deal with helping them with any mistake they can make.
God Bless Mom and Maw-Maw(my grandmother, deceased)

I would like to add my husband's grandmother to this page. We all called her "Mar-Mar" and she lived a very long fulfilled life until cancer finally won out. She was one of the sweetest women I knew and always treated me with kindness. I know she is finally at peace and for that I am grateful.
