Our Pets

Through the years...

These are my pets, some are gone now, but not forgotten. I hope you like them as much as we loved them.

ANGEL
She was a "mutt", but my sweetheart for 10 years. She was found under a pile of car parts at a job site surrounded by 3 older, bigger dogs in the pouring rain that were trying to get her. She's gone now, but she will always remain my favorite.

SEBASTIAN and TARA
They are both pure bred Samoyed's. I had Sebastian first, then a few years later I got Tara. I no longer have Tara, she was stolen from our yard, and Sebastian went to a new home with a childless couple that love him to pieces.

SISSY AND SASSY

These are the two kittens my step-son rescued from a homeless cat that lives near a shopping center. They are adorable, but I had to give them to a friend, because my hubby hates cats.haha We got to keep them until they got to be almost a year old, then hubby insisted they go, for some reason they liked him and wouldn't stay away.haha....Sissy was the quiet meek one, but Sassy was all brass.haha

In Memory of "Binx"(pure midnight black cat)
My daughters found an abandoned half grown kitten in a parking lot and she was obviously starving, so my husband let them bring her home and she got big, fat, and healthy.haha Since she was wild we couldn't keep her in the house, she had a unique way of sitting by the door crying like a child (often we ran to the rescue of what we thought was the 5 yr. old crying, to find it was her) to get out. She was found at the corner of our home, in the street. Someone had hit her and never slowed down. I try to remember that she was content for the short two years we had her and would have died long before then and never known happiness without my children. My husband has promised the children, especially my 2 yr old son who doesn't understand that he will get them another kitten (our son still stands at the door calling the cat, who never comes anymore, it is heartbreaking).

June 17, 1999 Update

Savannah (b. 2/27/99)
We got a red Doberman Pinscher puppy the week she turned 8 wks. The kids adore her, but boy is she hyper.haha I have taken many pictures of her already she is so sweet. I have always been afraid of this type of dog, their reputation is poor especially with children, but my husband insisted he trusted this breed around children. She was so tiny at the time, notice I said "at the time", I couldn't resist. Now if I can just figure out how to get her to stop thinking she's a lap dog and keep her from jumping in my lap at night to snuggle.LOL

Binx (2nd)(6/99-9 wks old)
Well, as my husband promised, he got the kids a new kitten. He thought it was pure black (to appease the baby), but she is black and dark brown tiger striped, amazing to see. I was afraid she would die and handfed her the first day, but she caught on and is doing great now. She hisses and spits at the puppy, while Savannah just looks offended (as if it would be beneath her to harm the kitten)LOL. Never a dull moment in my home these days. I have gotten nervous a few times when she sits and stares at my birds in their cage.LOL

Update: Binx is now 2 years old and a little terror. You would think she is the reincarnate of my first Binx with the crying she does at the door to get out. No wildlife is safe with her around. I have called the Wildlife Foundation to help animals and have nursed a few of my own she has gotten. Anything from lizards to baby bunnies she catches to play with and she is my living nightmare...but my husband who doesn't care for cats is very proud of his "huntress"...figures..he's a man.LOL

Lily (b.July 29, 2001)
9/15/01 I just picked up a kitten for my 8 yr old daughter. The only thing she wanted was a kitten and since she is a middle child and rarely gets that "special" treatment I decided she deserved this one thing. She was speechless at the surprise, but named the kitten within minutes of seeing her. She is easily one of the prettiest kittens I have ever seen. Big blue eyes, cream almost white body with a grey striped tail, grey tipped ears and nose, and pure white boots. She is absolutely adored my the kids and we are hoping she learns to stay away from our other cat who hisses at her constantly. Binx has never openly showed affection to any of us since she was a kitten, but now with this new kitty she is jumping in our laps to curl up and rubbing against the kids to be picked up. Jealousy does wonders for a bad attitude.LOL
