Andrew Jackson Clingan was born 21 Aug 1820 in Washington County, MD. It is believed that he was the son of Henry and Sarah (Simpkins) Guyton. Upon the death of his father, his mother remarried, and he was adopted by her second husband, William Clingan. He was married on 17 Feb 1842 in Madison County, OH to Elizabeth Ann Clark, the daughter of Henry J. and Mary (Collier) Clark. She was born in Frederick County, MD on 24 Jan 1824. Elizabeth died in Summerford, Madison County, OH on 30 May 1893, and Andrew J. passed away on 21 Jun 1898. They are interred in the Somerford Township Cemetery near Summerford, Madison County, OH. They were the parents of the following children:
* 1. Alonzo P. - b. 28 Jan 1843 in West Jefferson, Madison County, OH. He died 30 Oct 1864 while a prisoner of war at Andersonville Prison Camp, Sumpter, Sumpter County, GA.
* 2. Laura V. - b. 17 Nov 1844 in West Jefferson, Madison County, OH. She married (1) John Foster and (2) John T. Arnold. She died 05 Oct 1917 in Bradford, Miami County, OH.
* 3. Mary Gruesilla - See Fourth Generation under Weller Family-Franklin Pierce Weller.
* 4. William - b. 28 Feb 1849 in West Jefferson, Madison County, OH. He married on 26 Apr 1885 in Madison County, OH to Emma Eckles. William died on 24 Mar 1908, in London, Madison County,OH.
* 5. Ida Flora - b. 29 Dec 1851 in Summerford, Madison County, OH. She married on 24 Dec 1874 in Madison County, OH to Thomas C. Foster. Ida died on 15 Feb 1904 in Sedalia, Madison County, OH.
* 6. James Henry - b. 14 Feb 1855 in Summerford, Madison County, OH. He married (1) Addie L. Cartzdafner on 18 Oct 1885 in Madison County, OH and (2) Malinda Sweet on 14 Mar 1901. James died 23 Jun 1947 in Roanoke, Roanoke County, VA.
* 7. Franches H. - b. 07 Nov 1858 in Summerford, Madison County, OH. She married Thomas C. F. West in Springfield, Clark County, OH on 07 Nov 1878. Franches died in Springfield, Clark County, OH on 09 Mar 1913.
