Robert Smiley was born ca. 1732, probably in PA. He married Rhoda Boyd, the daughter of John and Nancy (Uhrie) Boyd. She was born ca. 1748, probably in PA. Robert died ca. 1811 in Somerset County, PA, and Rhoda d. ca. 1823 in Tuscarawas County, OH. She is interred in the Smiley Family Cemetery, Barr's Mill, Sugar Creek Township, Tuscarawas County, OH. They were the parents of the following children:

John Smiley was born ca. 1787, probably in PA. He was married on 23 Nov 1815 in Smithfield, Jefferson County, OH to Jane Gosset. She was born ca. 1796 in VA. John passed away in Mar 1839 in Sugar Creek Township, Tuscarawas County, OH, and Jane ca. 1893. They are interred in the Smiley Family Cemetery, Barr's Mill, Sugar Creek Township, Tuscarawas County, OH. They were the parents of the following children:
