This is Timothy's Birth story.

I called my Drs. office around 4:00 that afternoon because I thought it was possible my water had started to leak (turns out it wasn't) and I was having incredible pressure in my lower abdomen. The Drs. office said to go to the hospital and have my amniotic fluid level checked. George and I left for the hospital just before 5:00 p.m. and my contractions started on the way there. Upon arrival at the hospital they checked the leaking fluid, the test was negative for amniotic fluid but my contractions were progressing so, they decided to watch me for a little while and see if the contractions would stop by themselves. At 7:00p.m. the amniotic fluid was checked again and the test was still negative. But I was dilated to a 4 so the dr. decided to start a mag drip to try and stop the contractions. They said we needed to give it 1/2 an hour then they would check to see if I had dilated anymore. In the mean time an ultrasound was done to see what position Timothy was in. He was footling breach. At that point they told us he would have to born by emergency c-section if the contractions couldn't be stopped. We were having problems with our babysitter at home so George had to leave the hospital at this time and go switch sitters. With having to wait for the mag drip to start working everyone thought he would have plenty of time to get back before anything happened. After 20 minutes on the mag, I continued to feel worse and the contractions were still progressing. I told the nurse it wasn't working and asked that someone check to see how much more I had dilated. She called the dr. told her what I said, the dr. came in a few minutes later and I was dilated to a 7. Timothy's foot was in the birth canal and they told me they would have to do an emergency c-section. Now I was really nervous I had not really considered having to have a c-section and plus WHERE WAS MY HUBY? The dr. called George at home told him they were prepping me for surgery and he needed get back as soon as possible. George did arrive before Timothy was born. (About 5 minutes before.) Timothy Allan Golden was born at 8:55 p.m. on January 28th 1998 weighing in at 4 pounds 11 ounces and 17 1/2 inches long. Timothy was born at 31 weeks gestation. His due date was March 27th.
