Self-Knowledge

A man who knows himself has a certain future...filled with knowledge. You do not get to know yourself by thinking. It is a result of a natural state of being. With fear removed, knowledge and wisdom emerge in the time that they are meant to. Complete knowledge is the natural state of things. Fear sets the mind to analysis. True analysis must have the full participation of the many levels of being physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, etheric. The mind, as the small portion it is, believes that only it has the power to decide what is true. But it can only make such a decision based on past experience as a frame of reference. It cannot comprehend the complete realm of experience. It cannot comprehend that the past, present and future exist in concurrent reality. And just as the mind can't explain or understand love neither can it "understand" the essence and truth of you. Knowledge is not a function of the mind. It is a function of being in the moment. You seek to know yourself through your mind because you "think" that is the only way you can know yourself. And so you spend hours and energy in analysis trying to discover the "whys" of your existence without realizing that all those whys have been answered and in fact have answers far beyond the mind. Your civilization worships intelligence, so much so that a higher price is put on intelligence rather than wisdom. Such is the reason why your culture is so youth-oriented, because in the "intelligence and thinking" of youth the answers are worshipped according to the value systems that seem to produce those things that only the mind knows how to value. Your civilization has evolved to the point that, rather than revering wisdom in its elders, it neglects them and shuns them and denies the fine contribution they are so capable of making. Surprisingly, this depth and wisdom exists in you regardless of the age you are, and surprisingly can be accessed at any time. But fear keeps you fascinated in the maze of the mind. You would rather be a mazed than at peace. You would prefer the "struggle to learn" rather than to just know. And the knowing that I speak of lies beyond the mind.

Your deepest feelings are the gateway to your wisdom. But you exist in a culture that has learned to effectively numb and deny instincts and deep feelings. This is why when confronted with them most people seek to run or go unconscious, because for so long you have denied the feelings and lost connection to the skills that you have for healing through feelings. In a society that takes a pill for every ailment, people expect there must be some way to avoid or cure the pain. The problem is that the pain recurs because the source of the pain is not being acknowledged, and the learning that would come form "owning" such pain is short-circuited.

You may think this unfortunate but as you awaken now, like stretching after a long and deep sleep in a cramped space, you will have to welcome the pain. You will have to acknowledge your creations as well as you excuses for not seeing the real value of you. All this will indeed be an exercise of the mind at first...but sooner or later you will have to release your mind for your reasons and your explanations will not suffice. You will be forced by the nature of your own higher self to expand beyond your mind. Your mind will only serve to defend the reality it has created.

Your relationships are the keys to your learning. You may wonder why certain people come into and out of your life. The movements are not random. This is a time in your life when you long to be touched on the deepest of levels. In these moments you may feel exposed and frightened. And yet, somehow you will know that something the truth of you is at last ready to be set free. You are, in short, daring yourself to love without fear- daring to take the quality of relationship beyond any form that you have experienced. It is the opportunity to recognize that you are part of the one body- the greater body of which every human being is a cellular part. You may find yourself somewhat blinded by the light of such love and in fear want to turn away. But you can only turn to the love that is within you, for indeed that is what you will see when you look outside of yourself that reflection of the light that you are. And that is inescapable. The people you bring into your life are there for reasons that you can comprehend but much more for reasons than you can never comprehend family, friends, lovers, even the man or woman you casually pass in the street. No function or exchange is random. It is not the exchange that is as important as it is your reaction to it and your handling of it. Therein lies your learning. A learning that shall follow if you run from it. How you shall learn is a choice.

Let yourself be moved, let yourself be touched, let yourself be vulnerable, let yourself not know, let yourself be.
