Alzheimers Support Group
bar

I have four (4) chat rooms set up. These Chat rooms are open to all, therefore, we must watch our language. NO ADULT MATERIAL IS ALLOWED. At this time I do not have set hours for hosting the chats, it is kind of just hit and miss. I would like to hear from you, letting me know which chat is best for you and what day/time would be best. I am on the west coast.

1. Alzheimers Support CHAT ROOM, from Parachat. This room requires a JAVA enabled browser, such as Netscape 3.0 or IE 3. If you don't have JAVA abilities you will have to download another browser. I am hoping this room works better than the other one. You may use these rooma to set up times to chat with your friends or just hang around in and see who enters, have them enter this area through this page.

**2. This is an ICQ Chat area, &Alzheimers Support. It is very good but, I must be online to use it unless you have a contact list already. If you like, you can download ICQ to your computer. It is very easy to use and doesn't take up much space. Once you have it loaded ADD me to your contact list. My ICQ information is on the ENTRANCE TO ICQ page or just add #4459537 to your list. Daily around NOON pst.

**3. This is an IRC chat room by way of mIRC and WebTV Accessable:

  • Server= Chatnet: US, OR, Portland
  • Channel= #Alzheimers_Support
  • Nightly at 8:00pm pst

If you are new and have absolutely no idea what IRC is then please read on and I will try to help you understand what you need to get started.

IRC = Internet Chat Relay, it is what the servers that provide space for chatting are called. There are many servers, however I found ChatNet to be very friendly and helpful. You will need a program that is specifically for IRC. Again there are several programs out there. I have tried some of them and found mIRC to be the easiest to get around in and use. I recommend that you use mIRC. You can get mIRC by clicking on this link. It will take you to the "newbie" page and it has all the information on it that you will need to download the program. I recommend that you still visit the mIRC home page and read the introduction there for tips on how to use the program.

4. #CaregiverSupport
Talkcity room available to WebTV users.

I can also be found in Candid Chat. There are alot of great people that chat there.

Please let me know which one works best. Thanks, Denise

If you should experience any problems please e-mail me and I will try to find out what is happening and correct it.
