How can facial exercise correct so many facial problems?

An excellent question!

First, we start with the bones of the neck, skull and face. On top of these bones are situated the muscles of the neck, head and face. Over the muscles you will find, some fat, some connective tissue called fascia and over the fascia you find the skin. These muscles, like all muscles in the body have jobs to do; they don't just sit there and do nothing. When the muscles are in normal tone, all is well, however, if they loose their normal tone, then we begin to see the problems that occur in our faces.

Many aging signs are caused by lax, unused facial muscles. Contrary to the old ideas, facial muscle movement does not cause wrinkles, but helps to eliminate them. Nature has provided ways for each muscle to do a certain job, and others to do the opposite. The facial muscles are attached to the bone, the skin, and to each other. Each muscle is made up of bundles of as few as three and as many as 165 cylindrical fibers each fiber working independently of the others. Often, gravity and/or momentum does part of the moving when you move a muscle, leaving part of the muscle unworked which leaves these fibers to become lax and sag. When one fiber is fully contracted, it triggers the next fiber to work.

The muscles loose their tone in two ways: one, they become too loose which causes them to sag and droop, or, two, they become too tight, which causes them to look rigid or contorted. OK, so now we know that our facial muscles can loose their normal, healthy tone by becoming too loose or too tight. When this happens, the fat, fascia and the skin begin to mold to the muscles underneath. Now, something else that is very important happens here when the muscles lose normal tone. The muscles act as pumps for the blood and lymph vessels to move the blood and lymph in and out of the face. When the muscles are not in proper tone, these fluids are not moved into and out of the facial area, resulting in poor circulation, poor complexion and lack of color.

When you begin to exercise these out of tone muscles with the ABOUT FACE program, and bring them back into proper tone, the overlying soft tissues (the fat, fascia and skin) also begin to return to their natural shapes and the many facial problems that previously existed begin to reduce and often are actually eliminated. Facial exercises also improve the condition of the skin. In fact, you may notice a few blemishes after the first week or so. It's only the natural oils reappearing in your skin and the blemishes should soon disappear. Facial exercises do not eliminate the need for protection from the sun and elements. Don't give up your favorite facial creams and treatments.

How long does it take to correct these problems? Well, the color starts to come back to the face in a few days or weeks. Other, problems usually take several weeks. If you hear of a so called facial "expert" tell you that you can completely make over your face in a few days, know that you are hearing a "fast buck artist." Facial exercise is like any other exercise and it must adhere to the laws of science, chiefly exercise physiology. I have been doing this myself and teaching the ABOUT FACE program to my clients now for years. Facial exercise works better than you can imagine, but it does take time for your muscles to tone and change your contour. I have been amazed at the changes that I see in peoples' faces. You truly can look so much younger and more healthy when you exercise your facial muscles. When you see the results you desire, you will no longer need to do the exercises every day. But, as with body exercises, you should do them two or three times a week to keep the youthful look you have achieved. Even if you already look young, you should do these exercises. They will keep you looking young longer.

Enjoy your new, youthful look and enjoy spending the money you saved on a medical face lift!
