Author's notes :

Minna-san,

Domo Arigatou for taking time out to read my TetsuxHyde fic. It's been around since 1998 which means it's 5 years old now!! Can you believe it? Well, for it's 5 year anniversary I revised it for the FINAL time...tying up loose ends and clarifying things that didn't make sense in the beginning. No other website has this newly revised fiction except pook's site, REINCARNATION and I think this will be it's permanent home. So please keep coming back here to check for updates!

I have been on a haitus from writing fiction for about 3 years now and this TetsuxHyde fic has been on the backburner. I want to thank each and everyone of you that took the time to write me encouraging e-mails about this story and urging me to finish it. I know I didn't even reply to most of you for the past couple years, but I want to tell you thank you and I will finally continue to complete this saga for 2004!! You all have waited long enough. (and it's about time Laruku got back together too, ne?!!)

In the meantime, please re-read the story...since I made some changes it might even be better than when you first read it...I hope!! And like I mentioned before, this story is purely fictional. I just used some real facts about the band and twisted them around a little. Hahaha... Just for us adamant TetsuxHyde fans!!

The story takes place in 1998, just after the first part of their LIGHT MY FIRE TOUR ended. The members took a three week vacation to rest and do whatever they want. But little did they know this vacation would start something that would change all their lives, especially Hyde and Tetsu's. Even though they lead their own separate lives, they still have a deep connection to one another. Hidden feelings start surfacing and memories of the past start haunting them. Will these feelings finally bring them together and show them their destiny? Is their relationship really meant to be or is it just a door back into their past?

....READ THE STORY!!! ^o^

- Part 1 -

**CLICK**
Tetsu’s heart sunk as he finally hung the phone back on the receiver. He couldn’t believe what just happened. In a matter of minutes, the girl he dated for the past six months dumped him. She was usually the one in the relationship that liked to talk problems out, but as to make the present situation more pathetic, she used the phone and a short explanation of “it’s not you, it’s me” to end this on-going relationship. Was it only Tetsu who thought their relationship had a bright and happy future ahead of them? Was his imagination going farther than it had to? Part of him felt really foolish while another part of him felt extremely hurt. What on earth did he do to her?

Tetsu slid down to the cold tiled floor of his apartment. The room was still dark with only the moon shining little beams of blue light through the curtains. A beautiful translucent glow filled the room, but it didn’t matter nor help anything at this point. The only reason he was home tonight was to answer her call on his pager. Thinking it was a true emergency, it turned out to be this. A strange agonizing pain from deep within him started welling up to the surface...he could feel the water building up in his eyes and his steady breathing started to speed up. Tetsu tilted his head back against the wall and took a deep breath to calm himself down. He was back to being lonely again and hated every tedious second of it. Being the only one out of the band members that had trouble with relationships was somewhat embarrassing. Is it because he gets so easily attached to the girl? Is he too sensitive? After being with her, he really thought all that would end.

“Damn...” Tetsu sighed as he buried his head into his arms. He didn’t know whether to yell, cry, or laugh. Just sitting there in the middle of a dark room seemed like the only logical thing to do at this point.
**THE PHONE RANG**

Tetsu’s pulse froze... Could this be her calling back? He hesitated a bit, trying not to get his already obsolete hopes up. But, what if she realized she made a mistake?! Should he forgive her? Tetsu answered the phone, trying to sound as normal as possible.

“He...Hello?”
“Moshi moshi?! Techan?” A familiar voice on the other line chirped back.
Tetsu let out a breath of relief, “Oh...it’s you Hyde.”
“Nanyanen? Of course it’s me! Techan, aren’t you surprised?” Hyde started to laugh at the long silence that didn’t bother to answer back, “Donaishitan?!”
“Nothing’s wrong...” Tetsu finally answered.
“Uso yaro....” Hyde replied, “I know you’re lying! I know you too well....”

Tetsu knew Hyde must be drunk. By the tone of his voice and the fact that Hyde NEVER calls Tetsu out of the blue. Hyde was just too busy for that and it was usually the members trying to get a hold of _him_. Tetsu knew how hilarious a drunken Hyde can be. Just imagining little Hyde drunk made Tetsu burst out laughing.

“Na!! Baka! Why are you laughing?!” Hyde sounded a bit annoyed.
“Are you drunk, Hyde?”
“Nuh-uh!” Hyde started to laugh again, “Donaishita?”
“Well, for one, you never call me at night...especially on a late Saturday night like this, and two....you really sound like shit!”
“I sound like...shit?” Hyde giggled senselessly, “Really? Shit talks?”
“What are you calling me about at this time of night Haido?”
“I...I wanna talk to you...ummm....” Hyde trailed off.
“What?”
“…..”
“I’m listening!”
“I...I forgot what I was gonna say! Techan, you made me forget!”
“Haido, there must be a real good reason for you to call me. Or did you just miss me, eh?”
“EH?”
“Well, if you have something to say, say it. Everybody else did today.”
“Yeah, but I’m not everybody, am I??”

It was just too funny hearing Hyde this way. The tone of his voice was a bit higher when he was drunk and his words were so slurred no normal person would understand him unless they were pretty good at understanding drunken Osaka-ben. Tetsu was still wondering how Hyde managed to call him, being as drunk as he was.

“Can...can I come over your house today, Techan?”
“Come to my house? What for?”
“Pleeeease? I don’t want to stay at my house like this...”
“Aren’t you with one of your many girlfriends tonight Haido?”
“I don’t have any, you know that!” Hyde stammered.
“Yeah right... don’t you keep up with the geino news?” Tetsu giggled.
“Techaaaaaaan!! Why are you giving me such a hard time? My head hurts!”
“Okay _then_! You can come over Doi Hachan...geesh...don’t start crying ne!”
“Waaaaaaa! Ookini!” Hyde started to sound like an excited child, “Can you pick me up?”
“What? Now you want me to chauffeur you to my house?!”
“I can’t drive in this condition! You know what happened last time in Sakura’s car! He almost killed me for slamming it head on into a pole!”
“So you ARE admitting that you’re drunk, ne?”
“Nani mo yuutehen wa...”
“Ah, you are just so spoiled...always getting your way!”
“Heehee...so you’ll pick me up?”
“I’ll be there in ten minutes, so be ready!”
“I will! I will!!!” Hyde then hung up.

Tetsu hung up and laughed again. That Haido....he should know better than to drink so much alcohol. Maybe that’s why Hyde missed today’s practice. At first he thought Hyde ditched practice for a rendezvous with a girl he had met, since it was only Ken who showed up. Yukki had a long awaited dentist appointment to fix that toothache he always complained about. A part of him felt kind of better talking to someone even though that someone had no idea what was going on. Maybe having Hyde over would help him forget about the whole matter with that girl.

Tetsu stretched up and took another deep breath. At least all this mess happened during the band’s vacation rather than during the tour. One good thing came out of this summer to say the least....Laruku was back on the charts again. The bassist then grabbed his coat, got his keys and headed out to Hyde’s place.

It only took a few minutes to get to Hyde’s since it was only about five blocks away from Tetsu’s apartment. Hyde bought this house a few months ago but had no time to settle in due to their busy tour schedule. The band used it a few times for practices since it was so empty and spacious. But after Hyde saw that people kept coming by his home to take pictures of them, he stopped holding practices there.

Tetsu walked up the stairway to the porch and rung the doorbell. He saw that Hyde had a couple of bowls of dry cat food sitting out there. Hyde was probably babysitting Ken’s cat Elizabeth, or he probably bought that cute kitten he was raving about in the pet shop a few weeks ago. A light drizzle started to come down from the dark sky, causing little beads of water to form on Tetsu’s hair and clothes. The air started to smell thick...it was definitely going to rain hard tonight, Tetsu thought.

“Dare dekka?” a little voice finally answered through a tiny intercom near the door. Tetsu pressed the button to reply back, “It’s me, Tetsu!!”

The door buzzed open letting Tetsu in. He entered the dim lighted house and closed the door. There were still unpacked boxes everywhere and the house still had that dusty yet new smell to it. Tetsu wondered why Hyde bought such a huge house for himself. It was two floors high, complete with an attic and the ceilings were very high with simple antique chandeliers hanging down, giving a candlelight effect throughout the house. All the floors were hardwood, huge glass windows covered most of the wall space and a big old fashioned fireplace decorated the main room. Hmm...no wonder Hyde bought it. It might of reminded him of that beautiful hotel they stayed at in Europe. The least he could do is hire a housekeeper to make the place more presentable!

Suddenly Tetsu was startled by a crash. He turned around and saw a big suitcase fall down the stairs.
“What IS he doing?” Tetsu said to himself. “Oi! Hyde-kun! What on earth are you doing up there?!”
“Huh?” A small figure appeared on the top of the stairway. “How did that get down there?” Hyde said pointing at the beat up suitcase at the bottom to the staircase.
“Um...I think _you_ threw it down?”
“Oh yeah!” Hyde laughed as he struggled down the stairs, “I did that!” Before Tetsu was aware of it, Hyde tripped and fell down a couple of stairs.

“OWWWW! Itaiina!!” Hyde moaned.
“Be careful Haido!” Tetsu ran up to help his uncoordinated friend.
“My butt hurts now!” Hyde retorted like a stubborn child, “I hate these stairs!”
“Of course your butt will hurt! These stairs are all marble... expect bruises!” Tetsu put Hyde’s arm around his neck and looped his arm around Hyde’s small waist, helping him down the rest of the stairs. He could smell the strong odor of alcohol from Hyde’s breath and clothes.
“Haido, what on earth did you drink?”
“I don’t remember. I was thirsty!”
“A-re? Look at all these empty liquor bottles Hyde-kun! You are worse than Ken-Chan, na!” Tetsu commented after kicking a few bottles aside, “Looks like you had a big party over here!”
Tetsu was amazed at how much liquor Hyde must have consumed....he was even surprised that Hyde was still conscience. What made Hyde drink this much? Was it the stress from their long tour?

They finally made it to the bottom of the stairs. Hyde’s head was laying comfortably on Tetsu’s shoulder.
“I threw up five times!!”
“That’s pretty BAD, Haido. You gotta stop drinking like this, if you haven’t thought about it already.”
Hyde looked up and stuck his tongue out.
Breaking away from Tetsu’s helpful hold, Hyde went towards his suitcase and tried numerous times to pick it up. But, he gave up and eventually ended up on the floor next to it. Tetsu started to laugh at how dumb Hyde looked sitting there staring at his suitcase.

“Nanya?!” Hyde said, turning his head to Tetsu, “I bet YOU can’t pick that up!”
Tetsu sighed and folded his arms, “Do you want me to help you or not?”
“Yes...” Hyde answered as he awkwardly stood himself up.
Tetsu then walked over and picked up Hyde’s luggage which WAS surprisingly heavy!
“Are you ready to go?”
“Oh wait! I forgot--”
“What?”
Hyde ran into the kitchen to get whatever he ‘forgot’. When he came back , it was a kitten! The little white fuzzy one he was raving about in the pet shop!
“Hey! You got the cat afterall, ne!”
“Yeah...isn’t he kawaii?!”
The cat lay comfortably in Hyde’s arms shifting around playfully. It’s big blue eyes looked up at Tetsu.
“Kawaii ne! He looks like a snowball!! Hahahaha...did you name him yet?”
“No... I can’t find a name that’s suitable.”
“Oh, well, I’m sure he’ll be great company at my apartment. I think I have some left over cat food from when Elizabeth stayed.”
Hyde didn’t say a word and kept petting the cat in his arms, he then planted a kiss on the kitten’s head and smiled.

“Ne... no wonder you say you have no girlfriends anymore. That cat has all your attention AND affection!”
“Shut up!” Hyde smiled from the corner of his mouth, “Are we going to go or not?”
Tetsu opened the door and saw that the drizzle became a light rain, so he ran out to his car and put Hyde’s luggage in the trunk. He looked up and Hyde was still on the porch standing there.
“Oi! Haido! Are you coming?!”
Hyde had a worried look on his face as he looked down at the wet concrete stairs before him. After falling down the stairs in the house, he didn’t want to take a chance and fall down again. Especially with the little kitten in his arms.
“I’m...uh...coming!”

Tetsu ran up to the porch and assisted Hyde down the stairs. It took about ten minutes until they finally reached Tetsu’s sports car because Hyde had to puke a few times while Tetsu had to keep the cat out of the rain by hiding it inside his coat. After immediately opening the passenger door for Hyde, he gently helped the drunk vocalist inside. Hyde was sitting there drowsed until Tetsu reached over with one hand and buckled the safety belt on him. Suddenly there was an annoying pain on his other hand and he quickly got rid of it by putting the mad kitten on Hyde’s lap.
“You little baka cat! Look what you did?” Tetsu held up his hand and observed the little pink scratches all over it.
“Waaa...why are you yelling at my Kitty-Chan for? He was just scared! Wouldn’t you be mad too if someone said you looked like a snowball and jammed you in his coat?!” Hyde said smiling. He picked up his kitten and cuddled it near his face, “A-ri-ga-tai-na, Te-chan!!” Hyde smiled cutely as he waved the kitten’s little paw playfully at Tetsu. Tetsu responded by sarcastically rolling his eyes and shutting the door.

Just as Tetsu was about to get into the driver’s seat, Hyde turned to him.
“I forgot something!”
“HUH?! What now? I said I have cat food at my apartment, ne!”
“No, not that...I forgot to pack my CD folder and cigarettes!”
“You don’t REALLY need them, do you?”
“I DO! I get restless and anxious without them, na!”
Tetsu sighed annoyingly, “Where are they?”
“In my room, on my dresser...”
“OK...OK.”
Tetsu got out of the car, shut the door and smiled. He pointed at Hyde playfully as to say, ‘You owe me one!’ Hyde smiled back and watched Tetsu run through the rain and back into the house.

“Chikusho...” Hyde sighed to himself as he rested his aching head on the window. The little raindrops patting on the windshield were growing louder in his ears. He couldn’t even remember the last time he was this drunk. The only reason for his recent drinking binge was because of these weird feelings he’s been having...

“What’s wrong with me?!” Hyde said as he lifted the kitten in front of him as to expect an answer. The cat’s cute little face stared back at him for a moment and looked away. “I know...I know... I should have told him, but I’m just a baka, aren’t I? I always complain to you about my problems! Gomen na Kitty-Chan!”

Hyde set the cat down and started to pet it. All these thoughts were running through his head all at once. The main reason he called Tetsu was to finally tell him what he’s been feeling, but he couldn’t find the courage to do so. He wasn’t sure if these feelings he’s been experiencing are real, or just a figment of his confused imagination. He never really fell for another guy, except for Sakura. But just as he and Sakura decided to give a committed relationship a try, Sakura left the group and never talked to Hyde again. This made Hyde very heartbroken and Tetsu was the only one there to comfort him. The situation with Sakura also brought Tetsu and Hyde closer together and Hyde got to see another side of Tetsu that he absolutely fell in love with. Tetsu was so understanding and sensitive to his feelings. He was also there when Hyde needed to laugh and he also gave Hyde so much attention. If it weren’t for Tetsu, Hyde didn’t think he would’ve stayed in the band after Sakura left.

It wasn’t until their REINCARNATION tour that Hyde discovered his feelings for Tetsu. He tried denying it many times since the loss of Sakura still hurt him too much, but Tetsu managed to show him that he needed to move on. No other person ever went out of their way to do this for Hyde and Tetsu was the one that really made Hyde feel so important. Hyde blushed as he thought of the time he secretly kissed Tetsu that following Christmas party held at Ken’s place. Tetsu had a little too much to drink, due to all the celebrating that he felt sick and took a nap in the bedroom. Hyde then snuck back there to see how Tetsu was doing. From the looks of things Tetsu was passed out completely. But even though that was the case, Tetsu still looked so cute while he was sleeping. Hyde couldn’t resist but to want to kiss him. He was so curious to see what it felt like....and he did it. Even though it was quick, a thousand butterflies were fluttering about Hyde’s stomach. The feeling of having his lips upon Tetsu’s was incredible.

If only he and Tetsu could be together....Hyde felt that he would be absolutely happy. He was tired of being so lonely and he was tired of waiting in the background. Ever since Tetsu met that girl, all the attention he once gave Hyde went away. He watched in silence as Tetsu poured out all his love to this girl who obviously did not love him in return. Hyde tried telling Tetsu this after one of their practices, but Tetsu ended up getting angry at him. It would’ve been a good time for Hyde to tell Tetsu that he loved him, but Hyde didn’t want to admit it in front of Ken and Yukki.

He wondered if his trick worked. He called Tetsu’s girlfriend earlier that week and told her a big lie about how he and Tetsu used to be lovers and that Tetsu was only going out with her for his public image. Hyde tried his best to make her as angry as possible at Tetsu so she can leave him. But, he wondered if it worked. Tetsu didn’t show any obvious signs of sadness and he didn’t mention anything about having an argument with her. Maybe this is the stupidest and most selfish thing Hyde has done for his own happiness, but this was the only way he could think of getting Tetsu back. This is the last resort he thought... If I can’t get Tetsu this time, then I can’t have him at all...

“OW!!” Tetsu growled after tripping over another shoe in Hyde’s room, “What a mess!”

The room was huge and spacious and there was barely enough furniture to fill it up. There was a big bed in the corner-- where Hyde must have entertained all his female friends! Tetsu laughed. A tall lamp in another corner and a huge antique dresser with a beautifully carved mirror. The floor was practically covered with clothes, shoes, magazines, empty cigarette boxes and little containers of makeup. Stacks and stacks of unpacked boxes also occupied some space in the room.

“Wonder what Hyde’s gonna do with all this?” Tetsu wondered as he scratched the back of his head.

Tetsu walked over to the dresser and picked up Hyde’s CD folder and what seemed to be his last pack of cigarettes. Just as he was about to leave, something caught his eye. He saw it was a picture--but not just any picture. It was a picture of HIM! Now why in the world would Hyde post a picture of Tetsu on his mirror? Tetsu then saw there were a few other pictures on the mirror as well. But, they were only cut outs of candids he and Hyde took together. The other members were not there, which was a bit strange.

Well, he and Hyde have been friends for a long, long time....so it’s not that strange to see that Hyde valued their friendship that much. Tetsu knew how close he and Hyde had gotten ever since Sakura left the band. Hyde really took it hard. Tetsu couldn’t bear to see Hyde so sad that he tried to be there for Hyde as much as he could. He was glad Hyde was back to normal again, but he was worried now that Hyde was drinking excessively. It wasn’t like him at all...

“Hey, brat! Here’s your stuff!”

Hyde opened his eyes-- he must’ve dozed off for a minute. Tetsu was already there in the driver’s seat handing Hyde his stuff.
“Wah! Thank you!!!” Hyde said happily switching back to Tokyo-ben... he then started to cough uncontrollably.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Tetsu asked, his face full of worry. His eyebrows came together making a deep crease in between them. He put his hand on Hyde’s cheek and then to his forehead to see if Hyde had a fever. The warmth of Tetsu’s touch made Hyde feel a sense of security. The weird feelings were creeping up on him again.
“Do you want me to take you to the hospital?”
“No no...it’s just the after effects of the alcohol Techan, I’m fine.”
Tetsu shook his head, “You need to take better care of yourself Haido.”
“Ne...why should I if I have someone like you around?” Hyde nudged Tetsu’s shoulder and stuck his tongue out.
“Brat!” Tetsu laughed as he started the car, “I only do it because I feel sorry for you, ne!”
“Hey!” Hyde said a bit disappointed, “that’s it?”
“I’m just kidding!” Tetsu laughed again, “You’re so serious!”
“Naaaa....” Hyde cuddled his sleepy kitten in his arms and made a funny face at Tetsu, “So are you!”

**FIVE MINUTES LATER**

Tetsu’s car pulled up into the tiny parking lot of the apartment complex. The rain started to come down hard.

“I’ll take you up to the apartment first, then I’ll get your bag, okay?”
“OK” Hyde answered.
Tetsu got out of the car and put his jacket over his head. He opened Hyde’s door.
“Come on!”
Hyde awkwardly got out of the car, still holding on to his cat, CD folder and cigarettes. Tetsu covered Hyde with his jacket from the rain and shut the door.
“Let’s make a run for it!” Tetsu said as he put his arm tightly around a jacket covered Hyde. They ran towards the apartment lobby splashing through the puddles. When they entered the warm lobby Tetsu removed the soaked jacket from Hyde and they proceeded to the elevators. No one was there except the old security guard with the long mustache. He tipped his hat forward to greet the two celebrities. It was late, so the elevator girl was not on duty. Ken-Chan’s wife used to be the elevator girl who worked at the complex when Tetsu first moved in. That’s how Ken-Chan met her.

“Waa...we’re soaked!” Tetsu sighed as he looked at his distorted reflection on the elevator walls. Tetsu’s hair was matted down, his clothes damp and his shoes soaked. As for Hyde, his hair was a wet mess of blonde and his skinny arms shone through his thin white shirt which was now all wet and sticking to his body. He was still holding his CD folder like a table while his little cat was sleeping comfortably on it next to the now soggy box of cigarettes. Tetsu smiled at how cute Hyde looked... just like a little boy!

The elevator finally reached the seventeenth floor of Tetsu’s apartment and they both stepped out into the empty hall. Tetsu then unlatched the door and let Hyde in. Hyde stepped inside the warm room and looked around as Tetsu switched on all the lights.
“Sugoi!!” Hyde said as he looked at the place. He hadn’t been in Tetsu’s place in so long that it did change quite a bit since the last time he was there. The decor was really modern and classy. All the colors coordinated perfectly and everything was so neat and organized. There were paintings hanging on the wall of the main room which looked VERY familiar.
“Hey! You still have them!” Hyde said excitedly, pointing at one of the many paintings on the wall.
“Huh?” Tetsu said as he appeared from the kitchen, “Oh yeah! I kept those! Remember you painted those for me when I first recruited you to the band?”
“Yeah!” Hyde said amazed. Tetsu always had them packed away somewhere and it was such a surprise to actually see them hanging on his walls, “I forgot how good I used to be....”
Tetsu laughed, “Well, here are the reminders...! You still are a great artist Haido. I think you should try painting again.”
Hyde remained silent as he was surveying the rest of the lovely place. He was happy that Tetsu remembered how good he was. Not too many people knew a lot about his artwork and that was a very dear thing to him.

Tetsu returned to the kitchen. He was obviously doing something since the sound of pots were banging about. Cooking, maybe?
“Haido, why don’t you take a hot shower while I get your bag?” Tetsu yelled from the kitchen, “Or is it a cold shower if you have a hang over? You’ll feel a lot better, ne!”
Hyde smiled and put his stuff down. The little kitten woke up and started walking through the new surroundings. Hyde took off his boots and placed them by the door. He then slipped on a pair of comfortable slippers and walked towards the kitchen. Tetsu was there boiling water and gathering various vegetables, putting them on the counter. He turned around and approached Hyde.

“I’m making ramen for you...so go take a shower!” Tetsu smiled very kindly and it made Hyde feel warm inside. This is what he wanted. He wanted to be with Tetsu. Before he was aware of it, Hyde found himself embracing Tetsu tightly. He wanted to say something right then and there, but all he could do is close his eyes and take in the closeness he couldn’t wait for.
“Ano...” Tetsu said taken by surprise, he was stiff as a board, “What’s this for?”
Hyde opened his eyes and smiled, “Nothing... I just wanted to hug you, ne!”
“Enough already!” Tetsu laughed, “You’re scaring me!”
Hyde let go and stuck his tongue out again, “You are SO unromantic!!” He laughed as he headed to the bathroom.
“Shut up!!” Tetsu smiled back, “You’re too drunk to say anything!”

Hyde was still laughing when he entered the bathroom. He turned on the light and the first thing he saw was reflections of himself. There were mirrors everywhere!

“Kya!” Hyde looked at his pale reflection. He looked BAD. No wonder Tetsu was worried about him. Being nosy as he was, Hyde wanted to see what Tetsu had in his nicely decorated bathroom. Besides all the plush towels with his embroidered initials, Tetsu even had finely carved soap in the soap dish. Hyde opened the cabinets... Lux Hairspray. Gel. Razors. Shaving Cream. Toothbrush. Toothpaste. Mouthwash. First Aid Kit, Toilet paper. An expensive collection of makeup from Paris. Hmmm....he seemed like a pretty basic guy. He was stocked up on everything. Hyde then opened the mirror cabinet which was small. Different kinds of medicines were stored there. Anti-depressants. Aspirin. Sleeping Pills. Laxatives. Caffeine Tablets. Vitamins... and there in the corner was a small box. Hyde spotted it and took it out. Condoms?? Hyde smiled devilishly, “Hmm...so Techan IS experienced!”

Hyde opened the box, curious to see just about how many “experiences” Tetsu has had. The box looked pretty full...maybe it was a brand new box, or maybe Tetsu never had the chance to screw the poor girl! Hahaha! Hyde laughed to himself as he put the box back and closed the cabinet. It was good to know that Tetsu believed in protection. Most guys, like Sakura, never liked using those. He’d tell Hyde that it would take the actual excitement and naturalness out of the whole act of sex. Which could be true, but Hyde changed his mind that one day when Sakura came home disgusted to find a past girlfriend gave him a painful STD. He was lucky that it was curable, but all that he would say was; “That dirty whore!” for six months straight until it had finally gone away. Hyde was the only one in the band that knew about it. Poor Sakura... he was usually the victim of circumstance.

Hyde started the hot shower running and he began to take off his clothes. He managed to take off his shirt and leather pants, but suddenly Hyde felt really dizzy, like the room was spinning. He shook his head and rubbed his eyes hoping it would stop. But it got even more worse. He started to feel a sharp pain in his stomach and his legs were weakening. What was going on?
“Techan!” Hyde called out, hoping he was still nearby.
He was leaning against the sink staring hard at his reflection, trying to remain focused. But the reflection was becoming a blur...then black.
“Tetsu!!” Hyde hollered. The bathroom was already filled with steam and Hyde felt as if he was suffocating. He was scared to death. It felt like he was being blindfolded and spun around. Before he knew it, he felt as if he were falling through a never ending hole....
“Tetsu!!! Help me!!!”

*********************

Tetsu managed to pull the heavy suitcase through the storm and into the lobby. The security guard didn’t even bother to help him. He was just sitting there stuffing his mouth with Azuki mochi and coffee, not aware that the celebrity needed some assistance. Tetsu was soaking wet from being out in the rain so much, at this rate he knew he’ll surely catch a cold. Just want he needed to top this day off.

“Ey! Techan!” A voice called out. Tetsu turned around to see who it was. A tall figure with brown shaggy hair entered the lobby and put out a wet cigarette in a nearby ashtray.
“Ken-Chan?! What are you doing here?”
Not very often did Tetsu see Ken around his apartment complex since he married the elevator girl.
“I wanted to see what was the matter since I was in the area. You left practice early today...are you okay?”
It took Tetsu a minute to remember since his mind was worried about Hyde and worried about getting this damn heavy suitcase up there.
“Oh...oh yeah! I’m okay. I just got dumped.”
“WHAT? Kaori DUMPED you?!”
“Yeah...unbelievable, huh? But, it’s alright I guess. I mean, I’m trying not to let her get to me...”
“What a bitch!”
“Um, I guess you can say that. But hey, they come and go, right? I just can’t believe she had to be one of them.”
“Yeah, but you don’t deserve that type of treatment Techan. She just used you!”
“Are you sure? Maybe it WAS my fault she did this. Maybe because I didn’t put in enough time for her like she wanted.... But that would’ve been impossible since we were both having concert tours during the same time. I don’t know...” Tetsu sighed.
“How could anything be your fault? All you did was treat her like a fuckin’ princess while she turned around and treated you like shit... even in front of us!”
“I never realized that...”
“Yeah, she did. Yukki and I used to get so angry, but we were too polite to say anything. Hyde on the other hand took it really personal. He was always ready to say something, but we always held him back.”
“Uso bakkari!” Tetsu said surprised.
“Gomen Tetsu, but I didn’t like her. She was just bad news from the beginning... The bitchiest of them all!”
Tetsu smiled nervously as he eyed Ken. Never before had he seen any of the members make a big deal about his past girlfriends.
“I could see what you mean Ken-Chan... She wasn’t perfect and neither was I. So I guess we both just weren’t meant to be. But, thanks for taking my side ne!” He laughed, “Let’s just forget about her. She’s out of the picture now.”
“What’s that for?” Ken asked curiously as he pointed at the large suitcase.
“Oh, it’s Hyde’s.”
“Haido’s?? Is he here?”
“Yeah. He’s staying the night. He was drunk and called me over to pick him up .”
“That’s odd... Haido doesn’t get that drunk often.”
“I know. That’s why I’m worried about him.”
“He’s probably still stressed out from the Light My Fire tour. I know I still am.... It’s hard to unwind after all that excitement and anticipation!”
“Yeah me too... oh hey, do you wanna come up and have a cup of tea or something?”
Ken glanced at his watch, “Oh, I can’t... My wife is waiting for me, I have some Chinese take-out in my car. It was my turn to cook tonight but I was just too lazy.”
“Sou dane! You’re an old man now! You have curfews and dinners to take care of! No more late nights and bachelor days for you, ne!”
“Shut up!” Ken laughed, “You need to settle down before you turn into an old maid. Time isn’t making you any younger Techan!”
Tetsu playfully punched Ken in the arm.
“Whatever... I’m not the commitment type. I’ll be the oldest bachelor with tons of women at my feet! Hahah!”
“So....is practice still on for tomorrow? If so, Yukki wanted you to give him a call. His toothache thing is better now and he’s ready to play again.”
“As far as I know, yeah. But if anything changes, I’ll call you in the morning.”
“Okay then, I’ll see ya tomorrow... Tell Hyde to keep away from the liquor ne! He’s trying too hard to be like me!”
Tetsu laughed, “Okay Ken-Chan! I’ll see ya!”
The tall figure proceeded out the building and disappeared into the darkness.

Opening the door into the apartment, Tetsu pulled the heavy suitcase inside and shut the door. He then went into the kitchen and checked on the ramen.
“Oishii!” He said as he initiated a taste test. He was so hungry after all the events that happened today, he couldn’t wait to eat. The little fuzzy kitten came up and brushed itself against Tetsu’s ankle more than once. The cat was hungry too.

“Okay! Okay! Wait till Haido comes out because I don’t know what to feed you, ne!” He patted the little kitten’s head and picked up a toy ball, throwing it across the room. The kitten immediately dashed off to chase it. Tetsu then walked down the hall and went into his room. He peeled off the damp sweater from his body and grabbed a nearby towel to dry his chest.

He was wondering where Hyde was. It was oddly quiet. He did hear the shower, but usually Hyde would be singing or saying _something_...
“Ne... Hyde-kun?!” Tetsu yelled out.
No answer.
“Haido?!”
Tetsu walked over to the bathroom and knocked on the door.
“Hyde, are you okay? Daijoubu da?”
No answer.
This made Tetsu VERY worried. He turned the doorknob which wasn’t even locked shut.

“HYDE!!!!!!!!!!!”

Tetsu yelled as he saw a limp body laying on the bathroom floor. He ran to Hyde’s helpless body and started shaking him.
“Hyde wake up!! Wake up Hyde!!!!!! What’s wrong?!!”
Hyde looked ghostly pale with black circles under his eyes.... his lips were a faint blue color.
“Oh fuck, don’t scare me now Hyde!!!”
Tetsu shook Hyde again, “Wake up!! Please....Haido, wake up!!!”
No response.
Tetsu was freaked out of his mind, he had no idea what to do... Thinking the worst, Tetsu put his head on Hyde’s chest hoping to God to hear any sign of heartbeat. Hyde was breathing and finally responded by making a face as if he were in pain.
“Eh?” Hyde said barely audible. His eyes were still closed as his breathing started to pick up. Tetsu sat Hyde up and patted his face a few times, trying to wake him up.
A stream of red was running down Hyde’s forehead...he must’ve hit his head very hard. Tetsu got a towel and put it against Hyde’s wound.
“Te...Techan?” Hyde responded again barely audible. His eyes opened slowly and tried to focus up at Tetsu.
“Hyde!! You scared the shit out of me!! What happened?! What did you do?!!” Tetsu was angry at Hyde for getting him so scared , tears started to stream down his face. Hyde couldn’t answer back. He saw the tears coming down Tetsu’s scared face and managed to reach over and try to wipe them dry.
Tetsu hugged Hyde tightly.
“Don’t EVER scare me like that again!!!”
Seeing Tetsu frightened like this made Hyde feel bad. He felt so safe when Tetsu held him tightly. He wondered just how long Tetsu found him lying on the bathroom floor. The steam in the bathroom was overwhelming and filled the entire bathroom. Hyde’s body was damp, as well as Tetsu’s. Tetsu continued to embrace Hyde until the vocalist finally spoke.
“I’m....sorry...”

Tetsu looked at him and didn’t say anything but hugged Hyde once more. This time Hyde embraced him in return, his hands touching Tetsu’s exposed back. Both their naked chests were against each other, heaving in unison. Hyde couldn’t believe he was in this position with Tetsu. He gently pulled away from the embrace and looked Tetsu in the eyes. Tetsu’s arms were still around Hyde, too scared to let him go just yet. He looked up at Hyde surprised....
It was silent....
The only sound was the running water from the shower.
Hyde suddenly caressed Tetsu’s face.

“Tetsu....” He said weakly. Tetsu looked at him, frozen as a statue. His eye moved to the corner, finding Hyde’s hand against his cheek and then shifted back to focus on Hyde again.
“Na....Nani?” Tetsu said, barely able to speak after what just happened.
“I....I...” Hyde struggled to get the words out...
