I found this cool morphing transporter on a european sight promoting type II restoration and parts (sort of the Das BulliHaus of europe I guess)
Click on the "stinky chair" to visit VW's own official web sight. (stinky chair...how appropriate considering VWOA's current "support" of our hobby) I have removed this link, why should I support a Company that doesnt support my hobby?
As well as the skeleton toy.....da da da, (the future of VW in America if they dont get off the hobbiest's behind!!!!)
I found this awesome illustration on the funkngroovin websight. These guyz got some great illustrations. Be sure to check 'em out
Hey Clay, Do you think that paintjob is factory stock?????
I had to dig way back in the "UGLY ARCHIVES" for this one. If you built this gullwing abomination that was spotted at Lebanon Valley Dragway during the early '80's, at a VW show sponsored by Bob's Auto Parts, I apologize ahead of time for what I'm gonna say...but....U...G...L...Y...Nuf said.
This one defies description. Personally I see a few good aspects to this one...but...
Here are a couple of pics sent to me by my new VW web madman buddy in Norway, Jan said he thought these would fit on my "ugly cars" page. I have to say this is a tough one, but please don't hate me. I'm just crazy enough to actually like that car. I had seen pics of it years ago and had completely forgotten about it. Thanx loads for reminding me about it and be sure to visit Jan at his websight "BAD BUGZ FROM HELL" Just click his "veedub files" banner below. He has a great sight that any VW fan will enjoy and I want his garage!!!!
Now on a more positive note, this has to be one of my favorite bugs of all time. Built by a guy in southern Connecticut in the early 80's, As good as it looked, it was just as fast.
This is the SHRIMP. Anyone who has been a part of the VW scene in Connecticut will recognize this car. It belonged to the late Jerry Kelly. This photo was taken at Stafford Speedway in 1990 when the car was for sale with an asking price of $4500. I remember this car being for sale years earlier at the same swap meet for about $1000 and in much worse shape. No it is not a real split window. As I understand Jerry's son still has the car stored away somewhere. This would be a car to save, if for nothing more than its history and the memory of Jerry.
I love this one. Why? Stock hub caps on a chopped drag car. Awesome
You gotta see this one. I found an ad in the back of VW Custom & Classic for the "PRO V". it is a fiberglass 1 piece body, split window, chopped top, suicide doored, fat fender monster, with your choice of custom chassis with vw power or a full pro street chassis with mustang II frons suspension and a chevy small block! From what I've seen on their websight( yes it is at http://www.kitcar.com/gs.html ), this thing looks awesome! I sent for an info pack and cant wait to see more! You can grab their banner in my links section below to jump right over.
If you are looking for the ULTIMATE VW VACATION, have I got a deal for you. Carl Grossmann at Rift Valley Explorations, is planning the most awesome vacation experiance for the adventurous VW fan with a few free months and a bit of extra cash. Grab the link below for the 1999 AFRICA BEETLE CLASSIC, and tell him where you heard about it. Maybe if enough people do, he will let me come along for free.
Yes i love the new beetle, but I'm reeaallyy hot for the new Samba II as VW is calling their latest retro project. Bus lovers will be creaming over this one. It is based on the platform of the upcoming Golf MPV and will be significantly smaller than it's predecessor. It has two-tone paint, four skylights along the roof and plenty of chrome. What about a sliding canvas sunroof??? It will be a five seater and will feature four front-hinged doors and a large tailgate. A styling excercise is scheduled for the 1999 Detroit Auto Show. ROADTRIP!!!!!!
Speaking about the new beetle. If you can't afford one, might I suggest this beauty from Tamiya Models. It is a 1/10 scale radio controled kit that you build and paint in your choice of colors...even orange if you want. It will be out later this summer and retail for $176.00 without the radio unit, charger and batteries. Those will set you back at least another $100.00 to $150.00 or more. Still $16,000 or so less than the real thing.
Here is the cover photo of a trade magazine that we get at work. The magazine has a feature article on the new Tamiya radio controled Beetle kit and thay decided it deserved a cover shot. Yes that is the built-up model in the photo in front of a photographically reduced Mickey-D's. I also just saw the new Tamiya 1/24 plastic model kit of the New Beetle. It looks great. It retails for $22.00 and is selling like crazy. Would you expect anything else?
This is an idea I have for a tattoo I'd like to get. It is based on the logo for a certain VW parts supplier that I wont mention, because I have never dealt with him and dont feel like plugging his business. I just like the illustration. I do appologize for the poor quality of the gif, it did not transfer well. I'll work on it.
Here is another version munus the wings...it seems to lose something...
This is another idea, based on the VW ad honoring Jerry Garcia, but I touched it up by removing the tear. You might not like it, but I'm just not a DEAD fan. I never listened to them, I just like the illustration and I love busses (I miss the panel van)
Don't blame Volkswagen or Volkswagen of America for this web sight....IT"S NOT THEIR FAULT. It was all my idea, they are not responsible for any damages or medical expences. (for that matter, neither am I)
