What's going on? How's the resto progressing? Been a Chryslerphile since my VF carted me (and various others) all over Australia with absolutely no trouble. Had a VJ for five years, then the CM for three and still going great as the family wagon. Bought t e VF back off a mate and also have a good original VC sitting in the shed. Love VF, VG hardtops but reckon chopping them is sacrilege. Anyway, good luck with yours.

Great page, good to see someone showing all the pain that you go through trying to restore a car in Australia. I've recently restored a VG convertible. I painted it myself in Hemi Orange. (took me at least 8 months just for the body.) Trimmed the whole i terior black. rewired it myself(lot's of burnt wires) Changed it from column manual shift to column auto shift. It's was only a 265 with a single barrel. yuck. replaced that with a two barrel and had to repair the distributer to get it to accelerate like t should. put some nicely polished jelly beans on her and she looked real good. Hope this can motorvate more mopar lovers into restoring their cars. by the way this wasn't even my car.

The first car I owned was a '62 Valiant with the small slant 6. Not a hot car, but I drove it places only Jeeps are suppposed to go and it handled everything. Loved the push-button tranny, sorry Chrysler gave up on it. Am looking to the Chrysler PT Cru ser for my next car.

My love affair with Valiants goes back to when I was 12, sneaking Dad's '67 4 door round the streets barely able to see over the dash...my project just started today with the purchase of a E55 340 V8. Bodywise my coupe is pristi e, but after almost 3 decades the motor, trans, & suspension are showing it, so, we begin this great adventure...hang the expense!!!

Great site! I've been thinking of selling the Volvo lately and buying a convertible. I was going to buy a 55 MGTF but I'm going to get that later in life so if I can find a good Val conversion then I will as I still like the extra room for four passengers. Once again, great site and good luck! I just hope your top doesn't surprise you on a cold, windy, rainy day.

Best discovery on the net so far, especially as there is so little information on VFs. Have had mine three years now and is a complete love affair. Have restored the 318 and new ball joints etc.. throughout. Bodywise, is in excellent condition but have been advised to strip vinyl off the roof for total respray. Am looking into running her solely on LPG. Anyone with any information on this would be much appreciated. Keep up the good work - looking forward to next pictures. Damian

I have just spent the last 3 weeks tinkering with my coupe.I was very lucky finding her in near showroom condition with only 66000 mile on it,1 owner. It was badly in need of a head job & replacement of hosing & perishables.Getting her ready for the next All Chrysler day in Sydney. Interesting site, look forward to seeing how it all works out. I've got and been driving a 69 VF 2 door for some years, vowing to do it up. It's a 770 Regal, power steering, air, 318 V8 and a real gem. Originally I wanted to chop it like yours but now pr fer the hard top - not much of the year to cruise in Canberra top down and I hear the softies ALWAYS leak - be careful of that. I've had the transmission redone (ouch), new twin exhaust, and various other bits but now my baby's in the driveway needing an ngine rebuild and I haven't the bucks. Apart from engine work the car is VERY straight and rust free but does need a bare metal respray (NOT in the original bronze - kak), carpet and as much as you want to spend on the interior. She cost me $800, has be n driven solid for four years or so and is the best highway car I've ever driven, as well as the grooviest. Gregories' 69 Val manual is not hard to track down, Repco can order it. A real workshop manual would be better but I haven't seen one. I also have an original sales brochure I can copy for you if you like. Best of luck, hope your wallet can take the puni hment!
