Seeraga Kuzhambu
                                        (Seeragam = cumin seeds)

Ingredients : Tamarind extract/paste,  oil, dry red pepper(3-4), asafoetida(1/2 spn or a small block),  chana daal(2 tsp), toor daal(1 tsp),  dry grated coconut(2 tsp),  cumin seeds/jeera(1 tsp).

In a little oil,  fry together red pepper, channa daal, toor dal and asafoetida.  After the grains are roasted,  add coconut and fry.    Add cumin seeds to this and fry some more.
Grind these into a smooth paste.
Dissolve it in some water.
Add water to the tamarind extract,  saute this with mustard seeds.
Add curry leaves.
Put this mixture on the fire.
Once it begins to boil,  add the ground paste dissolved in water.
Let it boil for 2 more minutes with mixture.

Mode of eating :
Mix with cooked plain rice and serve as main course.
