Living With Lupus
(I wrote this for my group of friends from my on-line support group.)
United together,
A common bond we share,
Our enemy is Lupus,
Life seems so unfair.
The Wolf, our foe,
Howls it's pressence true,
Poised and ready,
To break our spirits too.
The attacks come daily,
The fight so hard to bear,
But we have a weapon,
Friends who really care.
Support and love we receive,
At times from lands afar,
Feeling the pain of others,
"Cause that is who we are.
We laugh together,
And yes, at times we cry,
Then hugs come our way,
And somehow we get by.
SLE tries hard,
To dim the light within,
But we have each other,
So it can never win.
Pray for me,
And I will pray for you,
Embrace your brother,
Embrace your sister too.
SLE or sometimes known as Lupus is a disease of the autoimmune system. There are some Two million people suffering with this disease in the United States. It strikes people of all ages, but for the most part concentrates on people of child bearing age. It is difficult to diagnose, to understand, and to live with. There are wonderful places of support for those who deal with the daily struggles of this disease as well as other autoimmune disorders. Many great places for support and education are linked below. A LITTLE INFORMATION ABOUT ME
I was diagnosed with SLE in 1986. Luckily I was diagnosed rather easily. :) Many are not quite so lucky. Right now I'm doin' OK,but I've been a LOT better! The Lupus is attacking many different aspects of my body. It makes it difficult to do daily chores, so much so that at times I CAN't do them. That's why I spend so much time on Lupus awareness. We need to get the WORD out. If you want to sponcer some kind of program, to bring awareness, please contact the National Lupus Foundation! Celebrities? Any takers?
My hobbies are writing (especially poetry), reading, playin' on my puter, :) and a whole host of crafts! I love to watch movies...mmmmm...those old romantic ones, and spend more time on the net then is healthy...LOL! Hope to get to know all those visiting my site! {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}
PS: A bio will be getting posted soon...er someday; as I have been asked numerous times about how I found out I had the disease and how it progressed over the years.
