I am constantly adding and updating this page, so be sure to check back often... or please email me if there is a specific breed you would like to see listed here! I would like to see this page grow, so if you have a site about dogs (can be either breed specific or general, just so long as it is dog related), please email me the name of the page, the complete URL, and a brief description. I will review the page and put it in the proper category. Let me know if you have any questions...
AKITA
Another one of my favorite breeds is the beautiful Akita. Below are the links I found most informative.
Many people not familiar with the breed get Malamutes and Siberian Huskies mixed up, given their physical similarities. The Malamute is a wonderful breed, with many personality traits similar to the Husky as well.
One of the cutest and most lovable dogs is the bulldog. The breed's face is reason enough for it to be used as many organizations mascot. They are very strong, but non-aggressive dogs. The bulldog is also stubborn which makes them harder to train.
The Bullmastiff is a powerfully built dog with great strength. They are good natured and docile (and so darn cute *smiles*). I had a hard time finding many good link for this breed, so if you know of any, please email me and I will add it to the list. Hope this will at least be a good starting place for you!
As more requests came in for information about Dachshunds, I had one of my friends, an owner of a Doxie, hunt out some of the better links about the breed and here are the results. I hope you enjoy!
Dalmations were originally trained to guard fire houses, but are now being used for so many purposes. If you are considering adding a Dal to your family, there are many things you need to consider. Check out these links to find out if this is the right breed for you.
I once owned a German Shepherd (yes, that is him in the above picture... Scooby is his name!), so I can attest to the fact that they are absolutely wonderful and loyal dogs. My Shepherd would always follow me to the bathroom and guard the door while I was in there! For basic information on the dog, the BEST is the GSD FAQ sheet, which is the first link listed below.
The very first dogs that was ever in my life were 2 beautiful yellow labs: Tuna and one of her daughters, Sandy. They both passed away when I was only about 5 years old, but I do have some memories of them (i.e. me sneaking good under the dinner table to them! LOL). Here are a few good links to help you get started.
LABMED provides funding for animals who need medical attention, but the
rescue group can't afford it themselves. Several success stories on
their site.
The Rottweiler is the breed next on my list that I would love to own. Protective, watchful, loyal, and loving. I found some really wonderful links on Rotties, so I tried to pick the best of the best.
