The Henderson Swamp This is a picture of a fine fishing hole in the Henderson Swamp , about 20 miles west of Baton Rouge. I've spent a lot of time around here. If the fish ain't biting relax, and kick back. We don't get in a hurry in the swamplands. Open your eyes and you may have a few visitors...

Out for a swim, in The Henderson SwampLike a couple of gators out for a morning swim.    Caution, this is Spring and mating season. That large male don't cotton much to being disturbed, when such important matters are at hand.

Make way, Comin ashore" Ahhhh, That was a nice swim. Now I think I'll just lay up here on the shore and sun a spell."
Remember most of the pictures were taken with a long lens. Even though that gator is grinning, he can still out run you on hard ground. Gators won't normaly attack but they do have short tempers. And if the front don't get you, that tail can bring you down to his level, quickly.

Much to close to get away.... Lucky I got a long lens. Here's a young, soon to be Mama, gettin her nest ready.
