On Line Editors at Geocities

This page will explain the three Geocities On-line Editors.

The Basic Editor

This editor was uniquely designed to help the novice geocitizen who doesn't yet understand HTML codes.

The Basic Editor will write them for you with a simple click of a button.
It allows freedom to change backgrounds, color, text, and graphics, while offering a wide variety of background, graphics and colors to choose from.

Easy to understand, you can build beautiful pages in a very short time. Once you understand the basics of how the BASIC HTML EDITOR works, you can upload any graphic you like to your directory (ftp files or use the the EZ UPLOAD in your geocities file manager) so that you can place your own special graphics onto your page.

By choosing the BASIC HTML EDITOR you can see and begin to learn how HTML codes work and what they look like.

From there you may choose to take your page to the ADVANCED HTML EDITOR where you have even more flexibility once you have become familiar with HTML.

Tips for basic editor

The Advanced Editor

Now that you know a little about HTML codes you are ready for the ADVANCED HTML EDITOR

This is where you can add codes, like java script or change the layout of your page. You may even want to add sounds. You have all the freedom in the world here. Change your font size and color, make tables and borders. If you can write your own HTML codes you are definitely in business here!

If you still don't know much about HTML there are some great places in Geocities that will assist you, thanks to the great geocitizens who have written pages just for you.

There is one draw back to changing from the BASIC EDITOR to the ADVANCED EDITOR, that is, you can't take your page back to the BASIC EDITOR once you have switched over.
