The caterpillar folds the leaf of the host plant using its silk and hides within the cell that it creates from the longitudinally folded leaf. The silk firmly holds the leaf together. This picture shows the caterpillar after its protective leaf home is pried open. Note the white silk used to "glue" the leaf together. The caterpillar is green with a longitudinal stripe along its back. There are black spots on the lateral surface of its body. |
