This caterpillar was found on a Cerbera odollam tree (commonly called the "Pong-pong" tree) in the vicinity of a mangrove swamp park. Although there were many such trees in the area, all the caterpillars appeared to favour this tree. The caterpillar appears to be in its 2nd or 3rd instar. |

A lateral view of the caterpillar at the same stage. It moves around in a rather agile fashion and feeds on the young leaves of the host plant. The black stripes on a white background colouration at this instar is typical of many other Danainae species. It has three pairs of filamentous processes. | ![]() |
