About Linux - There are several distrobutions producing Linux. Redhat, Caldera, Debian, Slackware, and many more. With its popular X-Windows installed, it makes a Windows system look shitty! It even runs Quake and was distributed on boot disc 15 in November '97. You can even put out your own version. DOS - DOS is old but can still be used today in this fast paced everchanging world. You can even use it to connect to the internet and browse the WWW. Earlier versions produced by IBM (PC-DOS) and Microsoft (MS-DOS) are nothing compared to the DOS like operating systems today which include OpenDOS (DR-DOS), FreeDOS. beOS - "The beOS was inspired by the power of UNIX, the ease of Macintosh, and the powerful media features of the Amiga" said boot magazine in issue #15 November '97. PC and MAC versions are available. Rhapsody - This OS, due out in 1998, is only made for the Mac and isn't much better than Windows 3.1. Mac isn't compatable with PC software.
