The Revealing of the AntiChrist

2 Thessalonians 2:1-8

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ , and[by] our gathering together unto him{1} ,

2 That ye be not soon{2} shaken in mind, or be troubled , neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand{3} .

3 Let no man deceive you by any means{4} : for [that day shall not come{5} ],except there come a falling away first{6} , and that man of sin{7} be revealed{8} , the son of perdition{9} ;

4 Who opposeth{10} and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

5 Remember{11} ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

6 And now ye know what withholdeth{12} that he might be revealed in his time{13} .

7 For the mystery of iniquity{14} doth already work: only he{15} who now letteth[will let]{16} , until he be taken out of the way{17} .

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed{18} , whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:{19}

Typology
Judas Iscariot is a type of the Antichrist.
The Holy Spirit is restraining the revealing of the Antichrist until after
the Falling Away.
Peter, James and John acted out the Falling Away on the Mount of Olives when they
slept instead of praying.
When Judas is revealed as the betrayer in the Garden, it is acting out the Revealing of
the Antichrist.
Verse 8 is the antitypical fulfillment of John 18:1-6

An interesting side note. John 6:66 to the end of the chapter reveals the same events, a falling away and the revealing of Judas.

Interpretation:

Notice the 2nd Coming of Christ consists of 2 parts: First, the coming of the Lord
and second our gathering together unto him. This is also echoed in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 .
Though some would argue that the Second Coming and the Rapture are two distinct events,
there is no direct scriptural evidence to support this. Rather, indirect arguments from silence
are used to support this belief.

Interpretation:

This word in the Greek means "quickly"

Interpretation:

Paul is comforting the Thessalonians by telling them that the 2nd Coming of
Christ will be preceded by definite signs. First, the falling away must occur
and then the revealing of the Antichrist. Notice how Paul's words stand diametrically
opposed to the doctrine of imminency, which states that the 2nd Coming could
occur at any moment, without any signs preceding it. However, Jesus himself also
stated the signs that would occur before His return in Luke 21:25-27 . Though we
may not know that day or the hour according to Mark 13:30-33, we WILL know the
general time if we watch and pray.

Interpretation:

If we do not know the Father's voice we will be deceived by false doctrine. Paul is
telling us the order of events for Christ's return. First, the falling away then the
revealing of the Antichrist.

Interpretation:

What day is that day? The 2nd Coming of Christ! Paul is about to tell us what
events must occur BEFORE the 2nd Coming. It must be noted that the the text
in brackets was added by the King James translators.

Interpretation:

Paul is again giving us the order of events leading up to the 2nd Coming of Christ. First,
a falling away, then the revealing of the Antichrist. Notice the revealing of the AntiChrist
is hidden until after the falling away. How does Paul know this? Because it is acted out in
Jesus' betrayal!
John 13:20-30 shows how the Holy Spirit is concealing the identity of the Antichrist until
after the falling away.
Matthew 26:37-46 is acting out the falling away.
Judas is a type of the Antichris so his identity as the betrayer can not be made
known until after the falling away.

Interpretation:

A child is the type. When we become a man we put away childish things.(1 Corinthians 13)
Thus, man is the antitype. "Man of sin" is the antitype. This term is referring to the AntiChrist.

Interpretation:

Hidden things or things done in secret are the type. Revealed things are the antitype.
Matthew 26:47 is acting out the revealing of the Antichrist which takes place after
the falling away (Matthew 26:37-46).

Interpretation:

The term "son of perdition" is also used to refer to Judas Iscariot, who Jesus
called the son of perdition in John 17:12. From this we come to the conclusion
that Judas is a type of the Antichrist.

Interpretation:

This word in the Greek is antikeimai {an-tik'-i-mahee} which
means "to be set over against, opposite to". The Antichrist will
introduce a religious system of worship "set against or opposite to"
the Bible and Christianity

Interpretation:

Remember means to recall a second time. Paul has taught the Thessalonians about this before.

Interpretation:

What is witholding the revealing of the AntiChrist? The same thing that withheld the
identity of Judas as the betrayer from the disciples at the Last Supper. The
Holy Spirit! See John 13:20-30

Interpretation:

Just as Judas was revealed as the betrayer after the Falling Away in the Garden so the
Antichrist will be revealed after the falling away in the Last Days

Interpretation:

Mystery in the Greek means hidden thing or secret. Iniquity in the Greek means the
condition of without law. Paul tells us the mystery or secret of lawlessness is already
working. In the same way that the teachers of the law and Judas conspired to betray
Jesus, so those who desire one world government are conspiring today. Guess who
one of the main groups of people is that stand in opposition to their plans for a One
World Religion and New World Order and ? Christians.

Interpretation:

Who is he? The Holy Spirit, who blinded the eyes of the disciples to the fact that
Judas was the betrayer even though Jesus told them Judas would betray Him.
See John 13:21-30, Matthew 26:25

Interpretation:

Let in the Greek means restrain. Who is retraining? The Holy Spirit. What is being
restrained? The identity of the Antichrist until after the Falling Away. In the same way
the Holy Spirit hid the identity of Judas as the betrayer until after the falling away of
Peter, James and John in the Garden when they slept instead of praying.

Interpretation:

Notice something needs to be taken out of the way BEFORE theAntiChrist is revealed.
The identity of the AntiChrist is hidden by the Holy Spirit until after the falling away.
The Holy Spirit is the one hiding the secret. This was all acted out perfectly at the Last
Supper when Judas' identity as the betrayer was hidden until after the falling away in
the Garden.

When shall the AntiChrist be revealed? After the falling away
