Backstreet Secrets

CHAPTER 2

Just as Lauren finished typing her article, the phone rang and she picked it up.

"Hello. Backstreet Boys Official Magazine & Website."

"Hey, Lauren! Haven't got a secretary yet?" A laughing voice said.

"Brian! How are you?"

"Fine. You'll never guess where I'm calling you from."

"Hmm... Your cell phone."

"Yeah, but where."

"I dunno... Orlando."

"Nope. I'm in Montreal right now. And the rest of the Boys are here too."

"Really? Oh my God, that's great! Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"

"We wanted to make a surprise visit to the magazine office."

"Inspecting if we work correctly, I assume?"

Brian laughed. "Yes, that's it. And if you're not, we'll fire you! No, seriously, you girls have done an amazing job these past few months. We just wanted to know how you work."

"Well, right now it's a total chaos in here. Our deadline's tonight at 6 o'clock."

"I see. So I'm bothering you?"

"Kinda, but I don't mind. Are you guys gonna come here today? Cause tomorrow Rachel will come after school, at 5 PM, just to make sure everything's fine and that the magazine's been sent to our printer, but apart from her nobody's gonna be here."

"Then we'll come tonight at 6. After the deadline. That way we won't bother you."

"That's fine. I won't tell anyone though, because they wouldn't work! Listen, I love talking to you but-"

"Now's not the time. I get it, you don't have to tell me twice. See you later!" They both hung up the phone and Lauren saw that Karen was next to her.

"They're coming here?" She asked, with a huge grin on her face.

"Yeah, they are, but go back to work, we still have a magazine to finish."

"Hey, be positive honey. We'll finish it on time. And smile, you'll get to see Nick." She said, laughing.

Lauren groaned. She didn't like him more than she used to, and the thought of having to meet him again didn't make her happy. In the past five months, Brian and her had become good friends, calling and emailing each other. At first, it was just for the magazines needs, but after a while they called each other just to chat.

Lauren had talk to Nick a few times too, and even just by phone he annoyed her. But she had promised Brian to get along with him, so she tried not to let show that she couldn't stand Nick. She was pretty sure that Brian made Nick promised he'd be nice to her too, because whenever she knew Brian was in the same room as Nick when she talked to him, meaning Brian could hear what Nick said, Nick was nice with Lauren. But when Brian wasn't around, smart-ass comments and sarcatic tones were flying from him, as well as from her.
