Backstreet Secrets

CHAPTER 5

A few minutes after six o'clock, someone came to pick up the magazine and send it to the printer. While Rachel and Karen where shutting down computers, faxes and lights in the main room. Lauren and Cindy brought the Backstreet Boys to a small adjacent room where there was a TV, a stereo, a fridge, two tables and a couch. Obviously a break room. Lauren sat down on the couch and Cindy hopped on the table, but the guys just looked around.

"Cool place." AJ commented. "You guys chill here?"

"Sorta." Cindy replied. "Actually, the others do. Rachel, Karen, Lauren and I are always busy when we come here."

"Yeah," Lauren continued. "We do most of the job. It's our magazine, the others are helping a lot, but it's still ours."

"And ours too." Nick said. "Don't forget that it's an official magazine now. Legally, WE own it."

"It's still ours. It's about you guys, but you don't work as hard as we do on it. I mean, you do work hard, probably harder than us, but you don't work for this magazine. It's not the same kind of work."

Rachel and Karen came in the room and shut the door. They looked at Cindy sitting on the table and sat at the other one.

"Why don't you sit down?" Rachel asked the Backstreet Boys. "Are you thirty? We've got some root beer, coke, sprite and crush in the fridge.

"Yup," Lauren said, getting up and opening the refrigerator door. "Loads of healthy drinks."

She gave something to drink to everyone, then sat down on the arm of the couch. Nick and AJ had sat down on the couch, Kevin and Howie, at the table with Rachel and Karen, and Brian was sitting on the other table with Cindy.

"You know, you're sitting on a table that people will be eating on later." Howie said.

Cindy shrugged. "Who uses chairs?"

"Well, everybody but you and Brian, for starters."

Brian smiled and got up, giving his hand to Cindy and helping her getting off the table.

"There." He said, looking at Howie. "You happy?"

"Very much, thank you."
