CHAPTER 3
They drove to the airport and Brian left his car there. Nick slept for the whole flight, as Brian had expected. Nick hated planes and sleeping was for him a way to not worry about it. Once they were in Montreal, it was already late. They hurried to rent a car before the store closed and drove to the girls' beach house, which was about an hour and a half from Montreal. Brian was driving and Nick was just staring out the window, guiding Brian as much as he could with the directions that Lauren had given him.
"You think they'll still be awake when we'll arrive?" Nick asked his friend.
"I hope so. I'd feel bad waking them up. But I guess they'll be waiting for us."
"It was so nice of them to invite us."
"Yeah, a week away from the showbusiness will give us some time to relax before we start it all over again. God, I can't believe we're releasing our second album already!"
"And finally we're releasing it in the States..."
"I can't wait to see if we'll be successful at home. You?"
Nick hesitated. "I guess so."
"You don't seem thrilled about it."
"Well, it'd be good to be popular in the US, but where are we going to go from now on when we want to be away from it all?"
"We'll find other places... Maybe Lauren will let us use her beach house again?" Brian laughed.
"Lauren told me this beach house is away from all the big cities. Nobody lives around that lake except a few people, and Lauren says that almost all of them are her blood relative."
"That must be cool, the whole family having beach houses around the same lake."
"You'll have to ask Lauren about that."
"So are we going to meet her family?" Brian asked.
"I don't think so, she said there would be only the four of us."
"That's gonna be cool. No screaming or camera flashes for a week. I might be able to get my hearing and my sight back." Brian joked.
"I'll get my voice back - I hope."
"Of course you'll get it back. It was just stress. It's already getting better just at the thought of having a week off."
