Backstreet Secrets

CHAPTER 8

"What are we doing now?" Nick asked as soon as they were outside.

"I'll show you around, alright? There are a few places you've gotta see."

"Great! What first?"

"Ok, there's a path in the woods over there," Lauren said, pointing to the woods behind the tennis court. "It's sort of a mystery for my sister and me. We've been in it a few times, but never got to the end of the path."

"Maybe there is none..." Nick smirked.

"Yeah, there's one. My mother told me about it. Apparently there's a cabin at the end of it. I've never seen it though."

"Let's go then!" Nick said. He walked to the entrance of the woods. "How comes you've never been to the end of that path? Is it really that long?"

"I have no idea. It seemed so long last time I came, but then again I was only 8 years old, I think... I guess when you're young it seems longer."

Nick looked at his watch. "Well, it's only 1 PM. We have enough time if we want to be back for dinner."

"We have about 4 hours."

"Yeah... Here's the deal. We walk until we find the end. If after 2 hours we haven't gotten nowhere, we come back here."
