Backstreet Secrets

CHAPTER 9

At 5 o'clock sharp, Nick and Lauren came back in the beach house laughing like crazy.

"I told you to watch where you put your feet! The horse stable down the street uses that path for horse rides!" Lauren told Nick.

Brian and Cindy looked up from the board game they were playing.

"Oh my God, Nick!" Brian exclaimed, pinching his nose. "What happened? You stink!"

"Well, apparently the place where we went for a walk his also used for horse rides. And horses don't have a tendendy to go to the bathroom before they leave the stable!" Nick said.

"But that scent! Geez, what'd you do? Bath in it?" Cindy asked.

"Noooo, I just walked on it."

"Ugh! Leave your shoes outside!" Brian said. Nick went outside to take his shoes off.

"You went in that path behind the tennis court, didn't you?" Cindy asked.

"Yeah, we did. We spent 4 hours walking."

"Did you get to the end?"

"No! It's so frustrating."

Nick came back bare-footed. "So, whatcha playin' anyway, guys?" He asked Brian and Cindy.

"That's a really cool game, we found it in the closet over there." Cindy said as she indicated the small closet at the back of the room. "Neither one of us knew how to play, but we decided to read the instruction and play."

"Oh, yeah, I love that game." Lauren said, coming closer to get a better look at the game. "Did you know you can play that with ordinary cards? You don't have to have the whole thing."

"Really?" Brian said, interested. "Well, Nick, we have something to play to on the tour bus."

"No, thanks, I really prefer video games and sleep."

"We'll let you guys argue on that. Lauren and I will get dinner ready."

"Don't you want help?" Brian asked.

"No, we're fine. You're our guests." Lauren replied.

"Yeah, but if you insist, we might let you do the dishes." Cindy added.

"Then-" Nick started.

"Sure, we'll do them." Brian cut him off.

"Y'know, Bri, I had another answer all ready." Nick said.
