Backstreet Secrets

CHAPTER 1

Nick was in his room, playing Play Station. He had been through the game already, but he had nothing better to do. He had been swimming for most of the day, which he loved. Usually, he would be happy just swimming and being outside in the sun all day, but that day he was bored and needed something to do. He was looking forward to seeing Lauren. She was coming to Florida that day and her flight was coming in at 2 o'clock, in Tampa's airport. He was going to pick her up there. She was going to spend two days with him. She had a two-week vacation, but wanted to spend some time with her family. They were going to see each other again right after their vacations, though. In two weeks, the Backstreet Boys were going to give a show with Secrets and lots of other bands amongst the most popular ones in the world. It was going to be a huge thing, on December 31, 1999.

Nick glanced at his watch. He had to leave in 10 minutes, if he wanted to be at the airport on time. He saved his game on the Play Station and got up to change out of his bathing suit. After having put on a nice looking shirt and a pair of jeans, he ran his hair though his still damped hair. He hated it now. It was so short. He had shaved the other side of his head once he woke up from his coma. The doctors had been forced to shave one side to treat the wounds, so when he woke up he decided to shave the other side so that it would grow back to be all the same length.

It had killed him to shave his head. The baldy look wasn't for him, he left that to AJ. Beside, the scar on his head was red and swollen at first, and with no hair to hide it, it looked awful. But at least he was alive. Had the bullet hit him an inch to the left, he wouldn't have survived.

He thanked God he was alive, and healthy. It could've been a whole other story had his coma lasted longer. But it had only lasted 15 hours, and the only thing to remember this tragedy by was the scar on his head. And for the moment, his hair. He tugged at it. "Grow faster." He muttered.

Realizing he'd been lost in his thoughts for a while, he grabbed his coat and his keys, and tumbled down the stairs. He said goodbye to his father quickly and ran to his car, leaving to pick up his friend at the airport.
