answers some questions posed by Bone Fans:
1- In the newest issue (#33) when the rat creature troops are assemblig, they speak a military language known as Nessen ("Shoss! Nessen! Nessen! Ik Garen Spek Nessen!"). What the heck were they saying? Well, lets take a look at what we know first. We already know that the word 'Nessen' is what the rat creatures call their secret language. They say this three times. Next, we can find two words in there that look similar to English. The first is 'Shoss', which can mean 'Shhh!' or 'Quiet!' The second is 'Spek', which looks a bit like 'Speak'. From there we can just fill in the blanks. So, I believe the rat creatures are saying "Quiet! Nessen! Nessen! We must speak Nessen!" 2- Why does Thorn have to go to Atheia if it was taken by the rat creatures during the Night of Lightning? Mystery is one of Jeff Smith's strongpoints. There are many things going on at the moment that we are not meant to understand...yet. It will all come together in due time, so don't worry. 3- Why does Gran'ma Ben say that there was no treaty between humans and rat creatures in issue #17 if before she said the rat creatures were testing the treaty? Gran'ma Ben was talking about how the Big War ended. She said there was "No Treaty" and "No Surrender". A treaty could have very easily been made later on. 4- Why is the comic book called Bone? Good question. I always thought it was because of the way the Bone cousins looked. If you look at a picture of one of the Bones from the side, they look like a bone with arms and legs. Their heads look rather like a ball and socket joint, like the bones of your upper arm or upper leg. You can probably understand what I'm saying better if you get a picture of a human skeleton and look from there. 5- If Kingdok was just an illusion of the dreaming, or hum-hum (issue #31), then how did he fight Rock Jaw in issue #32? Is the newer Kingdok an illusion also? The first Kingdok was, in fact, a dream. The secong Kingdok, who fought with Rock Jaw, was the real deal. A couple of things point to this. When the first Kingdok appeared, he was preceeded by a swarm of locusts. Locusts are associated with dreams, as the Hooded One has a strangle-hold on the whole dream thing. Besides, Smiley points out that the second Kingdok sure smelled real, and with a nose as big as his, I'm likely to believe him. 6- What power do you think the crown holds for Thorn, and why does it scare the locusts? The crown marks Thorn out as a Princess (obviously), but Gran'ma Ben also tells her that she has magical powers (making her a fairy princess). The crown must have some sort of magic stored in it. Either that, or it's full of pesticides. |
