- Above is a painting by Murray Devlin entitled, Suddenly. Study the full view of the piece then complete the following short exercises.
- Write down at least 8 descriptive words or phrases that come to mind as you look at the painting.
- If you had to choose one overall emotion you feel the painting embodies, what would it be?
- Before looking at the Bahá'í quote (referenced below), reflect on the reasons why Mr. Devlin chose the title "Suddenly" for this piece.
- Choose one of the following words (Movement, Light, Color, Time, Space) or the overall emotion you chose above, and write how you feel the concept was handled in the piece.
- Pretend for a moment that you created this painting, what quote would you choose to accompany it, and what would your choice of a title be?
