“Hi, Falkenhorst. How was your trip from up there to down here?” I asked the commander of Silver Fox.
“Great - oh, Otto, do you have any food for me? You see, Lutjens and Kleist (commanders of Greyhound and Blue Wolf respectively) have had hardly anything to eat for weeks.” Falkenhorst had the look of a starving child on his face. Knowing Lutjens and Kleist, I quickly took out a few lunch boxes for them.
“Happy Chinese New Year, Falkenhorst!” I handed him the lunch boxes for forwarding to Lutjens and Kleist.
“Are they really for me? Thank you very much Otto - but will your men have enough to eat?”
“Of course, Falkenhorst. The first rule of being in Wolf Von Lunch Boxes is that - no matter where you are going - you always bring enough food with you,” I showed him the back of my Opel 6700 truck, which was filled with food.
“Oh, I see. I think Silver Fox should follow your lead.”
“That's the spirit,” I was impressed by his quick thinking.
I was gazing at the stars about 0506 hours; daybreak was almost upon us. I quickly picked up my star, which incidentally happened to be Taurus. Erwin was a Cancer, Westphal was an Aquarius and Heinz was a Gemini. I had always been good at picking up the constellations - as a matter of fact, if there was no war, I would be the chief of my own restaurant and I would make my money by telling stars. I lay at back of my truck, resting with my head on my hands and watching the stars disappear as the first rays of sunlight appeared. I hate war! I thought.
“Falkenhorst, what star are you?” I interestedly asked.
“I am a Libra.” He answered, “Hey! Did you hear that?”
“What?” I had no idea what he was on about.
“Look, it's a new HE117a prototype.” He pointed to the horizon.
“Hey! Over here!” I was jumping and waving my hands like a kid in a candy store. “Look, something just parachuted out of the plane.”
“Hi Otto and Falkenhorst. It's me, Galland (commander of Meteor Strike).”He was the man who had just come from up there.
“What's that?” I pointed at the box he brought with him, clutched tightly in his arms.
“It's ice-cream and popcorn,” He smiled at me. “Special delivery for you, Otto.”
“Thank you, Galland!” Now I was happy. “Oh, look, it's plain milk flavour. Thanks a heap Galland, but I really must go now.”
I made Heinz drive the food truck for me. Instead of sitting behind the wheel, I spent my time stuffing my face full of ice-cream. War was not too bad after all. At least you had a lot of friends who understood your every need - and occasional craving. After I finished off the ice-cream, I read my company equipment report for Wolf Von Lunch Boxes. Well, I had forty-two Tigers, the Tiger being the most useful and most powerful tank of the day, twenty-two hundred men, each equipped with three lunch boxes, sixteen StuGIIIGs (anti-tank munition), eight PSW 234/2-8r (recon mobile armoury), twenty Opel 6700 trucks and one hundred SPW 251/1 half-tracked trucks. Shit, I hate paper work.
