Willow
It is exactly ten years to the day when Sarah first met the Goblin King Jareth. Since then she has been briefly married to a nice man named Sean Jensen, and they had twin daughters who are named Phoebe Elizabeth and Annemarie. They are two years old. Over the past year Sarah has gone through a rough divorce from Sean. Tonight she is resting from a hard day at the hospital where she works as a nurse practitioner.
Jareth watches her through the crystal ball, the same place he had watched her for 10 years. His legs are draped around the throne. He watches attentively. His eyes focus on her lovely face. She is curled up on a pink sofa with a club soda as she opens her mail. She still was beautiful at 25. He had suffered those horrid ten years. Of all the mistresses he had over that period of ten years, he couldn't forget her. They couldn't match her at all. The man she had been married to had been an insensitive dolt. From the fifth month he had known she wasn't happy.
"It is time to bring yo back and make you happy," he said in a determined tone.
Sarah heard one of the girls crying. "Coming sweetie," she said. When she got to the nursery she looked down into the crib and saw both girls were gone! She then spun around. "Jareth!" she gasped. He was standing behind her.
"Hello, Sarah," he said in an amused tone. "How are you?"
"Where are they?" she said angrily.
"Whatever do you mean?" he replied innocently.
"You know very well what I mean," she said.
"They are in my castle," he replied.
"Well, bring them back," she demanded.
"No, not yet," he said. "Sarah, I'm making you another offer. We could all rule side by side. You could give them a happy life," he finished. He was looking her in the eyes, hypnotizing her. He moved his right hand to her cheek and kissed her. When she pulled away he laughed. "You're still the same. Sarah, I love you," he said.
"Well I don't love you," she said.
"Give yourself to me, we can be happy," he said in a dreamy voice. He looked at her blue eyes and her answer was there. "No then, eh," he said. When she looked around her she was at the beginning of the labryinth.
"The terms are this: if you make it through this labyrinth by 13:00 you get to go home with your daughters, and I shall try and forget you," he finished.
"If I don't make it?" she asked.
"You shall give yourself to me and be my queen, the girls our princesses," he said.
"Why this?"she asked him. "I've done this before, Jareth," she asked, confused.
"The labryinth has changed a lot. I have added twists and turns to it. Give up," he finished.
"Never"she said. He shook his head and dissappeared. "You know you can do it," she assured herself. She set off determinely down the path.
Sarah paused for a moment. She looked around as a feeling of nostalgia swept over her. So much had changed, and yet so much was just as it had been before. As she took in a deep breath, she glanced down and said, "Come on feet!" And she started off through the twisting, turning maze.
Back in the castle, Jareth was in especially high spirits. After all, the woman that he had pined for for so long was on the rebound after a messy divorce, and she was in his Labyrinth; lost and alone. The thought of taking her in his arms and comforting her was almost too much for him. He took in a deep breath, and opened his eyes to find two tiny children sharing his thrown. Oh, he thought, children. How wonderful. They always put him in a giggly mood. He may have seemed like an evil man, but his heart was in the right place. People can be so assuming.
