Hot-Scot Edwyn Collins started playing guitar at 17 in 1977, the year noted in the U.K. as "The Year Punk Broke". Somewhere in between then & around 1979, he formed a band with some school mates called the Nu-Sonics which later became the infinatly successful band, Orange Juice. Orange Juice later formed Postcard Records of Scotland. The biggest hit Orange Juice had was probably Rip It Up, from 1983. Around 1984, the band called it quits. Since then, he has released a few solo albums, one being Hellbent on Comprimise & the other truley notable Gorgeous George. He toured the states an amazing one time in November of 1995. Edwyn's love is pop. No, i don't mean 1980 glitter pop or the ever-unpopular bubble-gum pop, but something like... I guess devil-may-care-pop. It's like early punk (before Rotten & Vicious) with the influence of 60's guitar. The result is absolutly great!!! Edwyn has a deep, Bowie-esque baritone, intriguing lyrics, a unique guitar style, strong melodies & just damn good music. His hit from 1995, "A Girl Like You", stayed in the top 10 
for weeks in the US & Britain. It appeard on the soundtrack of Never Talk to Strangers & Empire Records & has been heard in the background of the Jim Carrey special on Mtv & from Paul Shaffer of The Late Show with David Letterman. Also "A Girl Like You" was aired on Conan O'Brian in '97. Edwyn is starting to show up again on the net with new pages so there might be a new album in the future(not sure). At Current Edwyn is releasing the recording of "A Girl Like You" on Live at Studio 6a, a compelation of the best recorded on the Conan O'brian Show, and his new single, "The Magic Piper of Love" showed up on a '97 movie soundtrack.
