Phoebe told her mom about Judy and she was very
pleased that she got her ticket already. Georgia decided to go to the store
to get a few things since she would be living
with them for five days. Phoebe grabbed a photo album and headed up to
her
room. She opened up the book and started looking
at all the pictures of Judy. She took one out of the book and stared at
it.
They were covered in mud. Then that memory came
to her.
It was about a year ago, a warm summer day
in August. Phoebe and Judy were at their neighborhood park, playing
basketball. Judy was winning, until she made
a bad shot, which sent the ball bouncing away like crazy.
"Ahh! Look where the ball went!" Judy exlcaimed,
pointing over to the nearby creek. It was about 100 degrees outside
and the water was well...only mud.
Phoebe ran over to her and sighed.
"Man, who's going to get it? We can't finish
playing basketball without the ball!"
Judy shrugged. "Well, I guess I'll get it
then. I bounced it over there."
She started walking and Phoebe followed her.
When they reached the creek, they both looked disgusted.
"Eww, it's right in the middle of all that!"
Phoebe covered up her nose.
"Oh god...well I think I can reach it. Do
you see a stick anywhere?"
Phoebe looked in the ditch and spotted one.
"Here ya go!" She handed it over to her.
"Thanks. Hold my waist so I don't fall in."
"Ok."
Judy leaned as far as she could and tried
to get the ball. It almost reached. She leaned a little farther.
"I can't get it!"
Phoebe looked at the mud and then to her.
"Well, it's not that deep. Just go in there. You have shorts on."
Judy turned around shocked. "You want me to
get in the mud??"
She nodded.
"Well...ok but this is only because that ball
is not ours..."
Phoebe smiled. "Good."
Judy took off her socks and shoes and tossed
them over to the grass. She took a deep breath and stuck her leg in.
"Nasty!!"
Phoebe laughed. "Just do it quick."
"You should help me..." She gave her the evil
eye and then laughed. Judy walked a little further and it got deeper on
her legs. It was almost to her shorts. They
were short shorts too. She didn't seem to notice until...
"AHH!!!" Judy stepped into a hole and was
now waist deep.
"Judy!!!" Phoebe was trying to get her shoes
off now.
Judy was trying to move and the more she did,
the more mud got on her. She was flinging mud everywhere.
Phoebe hopped in and walked over to her. She
took her time so that she wouldn't sink...they'd be in big trouble if that
happened.
"I'm going to be in so much trouble..." She
looked at her clothes. Phoebe looked the same way. She reached her arm
out and took Judy's hand. She pulled her up
and they walked to the edge. They crawled out and sat on the grass.
"Well...so much for the ball, and my clothes."
Judy wiped some of the mud off of her legs.
Phoebe laughed. "We'll have to take a picture
when we get home."
"Yeah...if mom doesn't kill me first."
They both looked at each other and smiled.
Phoebe stuck the picture back into the book and leaned against her pillow.
"Zac! What are you doing?" Jessica exclaimed when
she saw Zac sitting in the hallway at her bedroom door. Joey looked
down and smiled at him.
"Um... I was on my way to the bathroom." He blushed.
"Ok...so you go to the bathroom on the floor
then?" Jessica asked.
"No...um, I gotta go." He jumped up and walked
backwards, then turned and ran into his bedroom, shuting the door as fast
as
he could.
"What was that all about I wonder?" Joey said
to her.
"I have no idea...he's weird like that though."
Joey shrugged. "I like him like that."
"Don't do it...I've had enough of Zac lately.
Let's get a snack now."
Joey agreed and slowly made her way down the
stairs with Jessica.
"Ike!! Slow up!" Taylor said into his walkie-talkie.
They used the head sets while they rode, because
you couldn't scream all the time to each other. You would lose your voice.
Isaac slowed up and stopped. Taylor pulled up
beside him.
"It's a little bumpy back there."
"Yeah, I know. I think I almost lost it." Taylor
took off his helmet and wiped the sweat off of his forehead.
"Yeah, you have to be careful. So, do you want
to ride anymore?"
Taylor was about to answer, when he felt something
vibrate.
He jumped back, then laughed. "It's my beeper."
He snapped the red beeper off his hip and looked at the number.
"It's Phoebe. Huh, I wonder what she needs to
talk to me about?"
Isaac shrugged. "Who knows...you guys talk all
the time."
"I know." He smiled and stuck it back on his
hip.
"So, are we going home or do you want to ride
for a while longer?" Isaac asked again.
"Sure, let's ride for a bit. I want to leave
in a little while though."
"Ok cool. I'll race you..." Isaac kicked down
and took off. Taylor laughed and quickly caught up to him after a minute
or two.
:::Three Hours Later:::
"So, she will be here tomorrow." Phoebe had just
finished telling Taylor all about Judy coming to see her the next day.
"Wow, you must be excited."
"Yep! I am. And I am really thrilled about you
guys being able to meet her too! She is such a fan."
Taylor smiled. "Do you have any plans on how
we should surprise her?"
"Well, I was thinking that you guys could just
go over my house and open the door up and be like 'Surpise!' when we get
home
from the airport."
"Hmm...that's sounds pretty good. I mean, there's
nothing else that we could really do though. She will be surprised anyway
you look at it."
Phoebe nodded. "Yeah, I know. Um, oh yeah. Do
you think you could get me the 'Boomerang' and 'MMMBop' cd's for her? I
think we told her she would get them."
"Yeah, we did. And sure, I'll get her some."
He smiled.
"Great! You're super Tay." She leaned over and
gave him a kiss.
"Aww, thanks." He blushed a little. Then he looked
at his watch.
"Hey, I gotta go now. Promised mom that I would
help her clean the house. I have no idea why I get stuck doing that all
the
time." He shook his head a little.
"Ah, that's nothing compared to dish duty for
Ike." Phoebe laughed.
"Don't remind me..." He winked at her, then he
got up from the sofa. "I'll see you later, ok?"
"Sure, see ya then!" They hugged each other and
Taylor headed for home.
Zac was laying on his bed bumming a little when
Isaac came in.
"Hey buddy." He said to the sulking Zac.
"Hey yourself."
"Ok, what's wrong?" Isaac opened up the computer
drawer in search of some envelopes.
"Nothing except that Jessie totaly humiliated
me in front of Joey."
Isaac nodded and found the envelopes. He then
turned to face his younger brother.
"So...sounds like you have a thing for this Joey,
eh?"
Zac blushed. "No...well, I don't know." He covered
up his face with his hands.
"Hmm...I think you do. And you're so obvious
Zac. You're blushing more than Tay lately." He laughed a little.
"I am not!"
"Sure."
"Well," he huffed a little. "I don't understand...why
I like her. There, are you happy now? I said it."
Isaac smiled. "Why don't you just talk to her
about it?"
Zac dropped his mouth open at that. "What?! Talk
to her about it? Yeah, sure. And I'm not embarassed now." He rolled his
eyes.
"Ok...ask Jessie to talk to her about it then."
Zac glanced over at him when he said that. "I
don't know..."
"Well, why not? Jessie's good at getting the
truth out of people. Besides, I think Joey likes you anyway."
He sat up when Isaac said that. "You think so?"
"Yeah sure. I see the way she looks at you."
His face flushed again. "I never noticed anything."
"You wouldn't Zac." He laughed.
"Haha, very funny. Anyways... maybe I'll ask
Jessie about it."
Isaac nodded. "Good thinking son."
Zac laughed. "Great talk dad." He gave him a
thumbs up and laughed again.
"Ok, well I'm outa here. I have to mail some
letters. Tay's downstairs by the way..."
"Helping mom clean." Zac finished his sentence.
"Yeah, ok see ya later then." He turned and left
the room.
Zac fell back and stared up at the ceiling. Why
did he like her? The great personality? The hair? The eyes? He shrugged
at his
own thoughts. Perhaps the big mystery would be
solved before long and he could go back to being the "normal" Zac.
Wait...was he ever normal in the first place?
But, what is normal? And would Joey liking him make him feel normal? Does
Tay
feel normal around Phoebe? Zac rolled over on
his stomach and thought of the tour. Sure, they had practiced sometimes...but
he was worried if they were good enough. Maybe
he didn't need to concentrate on Joey so much. After all, people were
counting on them to put on a good show. They
were leaving in a week. They had to spend this week really pushing to get
everything into schedule. He sat up and scratched
his head. He'd probably just worry about her when they got back. Zac
sighed. He had to stop these thoughts. He was
confusing himself. He sat up and decided to go outside to the treehouse.
He opened the door up and came face to face with
Joey.
"Hi...again." He said to her.
"Hi...I was just going to ask you if you had
a pen we could use. Jessie's ran out of ink."
"Sure. Let me get one." He ran over to his desk
and quickly grabbed a black pen.
"Here ya go." He looked at her, then handed it
over.
She smiled and took it. "Thanks Zac. Oh, by the
way, I'm sleeping over tonight. Maybe we could all watch a movie?"
Zac's heart was beating fast now. Sleeping over?
He thought.
"Uh, yeah...sure. Um, see ya." He offered a wave
and darted down the hallway and then the stairs.
Joey smiled to herself. Maybe she would clear
some things up that night as well.
Note: The words in italic are a memory. Also,
that memory is an actual one of mine! My sister and her friend Diana
had the same thing happen to them! hehehe
Well, except that my sis had an accident in her pants from laughing so
hard and my brothers bike was stolen because
he left it to help them. LoL But, you get the point.
