CHAPTER TWELVE - CONTINUED

:::Later...in the evening:::
"Oh...do I look ok?" Joey asked Jessica. She was wearing a new set of pajamas. You know, the t-shirt and short kind.
"You look fine! Hmm, are you nervous about being in your p.j's around Zac? You never were before."
"That was before though."
"You look fine. Believe me." She smiled at Joey.
"Well, ok. I'll take your word for it then." She went over and picked up her puppy dog slippers and put them on her feet. She
decided to take off her bandage. Her foot has kinda stopped hurting her.
"I'll be back in a sec." Jessica left and headed for the bathroom. Joey sat down and waited for her to return.

"Zac, what the heck is wrong with you?" Taylor asked him. He was sitting on the couch looking around every few seconds.
"Nothing. Why would you think that?"
"Because you keep looking over your shoulder."
"Oh...well it's nothing." He looked back at the t.v.
"Uh huh..." Taylor shook his head and got up to go to the kitchen. He would have been with Phoebe, but she wanted to stay at
home and get things prepared for Judy.
He opened up the fridge and took out the soda. Then he looked at the note his mom left on the door. He smiled when he saw
it. Diana and Walker had left thirty minutes ago. They were going out for the evening. Taylor didn't see why she had to make
such a big deal out of explaining the "rules", but she did. And it was even more amusing considering the fact that Zoe and
Mackie were staying over at their aunts house that night. Diana's sister said she watch them to give them a break. They were
very happy with that. So, it was just Isaac, Taylor, Zac, Jessica, Joey and Avery in the house that night. Hopefully, things
wouldn't get too out of hand.

Zac looked up when he heard his sister and Joey coming down the stairs. His heart beat fast. He looked back at the t.v. but
kept an eye on them as they entered the kitchen.
Taylor looked up and smiled when he saw them. "Do you guys want a snack? I'm making popcorn."
"Sure, make us our own bag." Jessica said with a smile.
"Ok."
Joey went over to the pantry to get Taylor an extra bag. She peeked around the corner and saw Zac looking at her. He quickly
looked away. She smiled to herself.
"Here Tay."
"Thanks." He leaned against the counter and waited for the first bag to pop.
"By the way, where is Phoebe? Didn't you want her to come over tonight too?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah I did. But, Judy is flying in to see her tomorrow. She wanted to prepare some things."
"Oh wow, that's pretty cool!"
"Yeah, it is. I'm happy for her."
"Um, I'm going in the living room." Joey said to Jessica.
"Ok, be there in a minute."
She smiled and walked around the corner. Zac looked up when he saw her come in.
She sat down beside him.
"Oh, hey Joey." Isaac said without looking up from his magazine.
"Hey." She replied. Then she looked at Zac. "Hey Zac."
"Hi."
"So, are we all going to watch a movie?" She asked him.
"Um yeah. We rented Scream 2."
"Oh cool! They say that it's better than the first one."
"I hear that too..." He smiled a little.
Joey scooted closer to him. He glanced over at Isaac.
"Hey Ike!?" Taylor yelled from the kitchen.
"Hey what!?"
"Do you want popcorn?"
"No...I'm not hungry."
"Ok."
"So, do you like scary movies?" Zac asked, hoping to break the nervous feeling he had.
"Oh yeah!! I love them! They are my fav." She smiled at him again.
"Me too!" He grinned.
Isaac looked up from his mag. He smiled when he saw the way Zac looked. He was still a little pink from blushing.
"Ok, everyone. Here is your popcorn," He placed a bowl on the coffee table for Joey and Jessica. "And, here is mine." Taylor
smiled and sat down beside Isaac.
"Move Zac. I want to sit by Joey so we can share." Jessica told him.
Joey sighed a little. She wanted to sit by Zac.
He got up and went over to the other sofa.
"Um, hold on a sec. Where is Avery?" Isaac asked.
"Oh, she was in our room a few minutes ago." Jessica answered.
"Ok, cool."
They all settled back and Isaac pressed "play" on the romote. A few minutes later, the opening scene was on the t.v.

"Are you positive that it was Isaac who went chasing you through the mall?" Maddy asked Veronica. They were sitting in her
room talking. She had decided to stay over that night.
"Yes, I looked right at him. Then he got all mad because I said a few things to him, then he flipped out on me right in front of
everyone!"
Maddy frowned a little. "Well...what did you say to him?"
Veronica sighed. "Maddy, you know I don't like Hanson. So...that's basically what I said to him."
"But he liked you enough to go to the theater and have Taylor ask you your name, then he followed you around at the mall?"
"I guess so..."
Maddy crossed her legs and thought for a moment. It was very weird to hear this from her best friend. When she saw the look
they gave each other at the gas station, she knew something was up. She wanted Veronica to tell her right when they got back
to her house, but she was busy and promised to tell her that night. Which was what she was doing then.
Veronica flipped her hair over her shoulder. "Why does this bother you so much?"
"It doesn't bother me! It's just that I went out with him..."
"And you feel somewhat bothered by the fact that he liked me first?"
"I don't know...maybe."
"You know Maddy, he's not the best thing to happen to women. I personally think that his brother, Tyler,"
"Taylor." Maddy corrected.
"Whatever. I think that Taylor got the better end of the gene pool if you ask me."
Maddy rolled her eyes at that. "Well, nobody asked you."
Veronica went over to the dresser and picked up her brush. "It was just my opinion."
She started to fix her hair.
"Ugh, this is soo screwed up! What am I going to do now? Isaac obviously knows that we are friends!" She fell back onto her
pillow and closed her eyes.
"Just do what I would do. Break off any connections that you have with him. I mean, come on Maddy! You went out with him
one time!"
"You really think I should do that?" She asked her.
"Well, like I said...that's what I would do." Veronica paused, then went on to say, "How long have we been friends? A long
time. A whole lot longer that you have known Isaac." Maddy was just staring at her.
"Ok, lets just put it this way. We both know that something has to end. Will it be our friendship, or your single date with Isaac?"
"Ok, so basically what you are saying is that if I don't break it off with Isaac, our friendship will be ruined?"
Veronica nodded. "Yeah, something along those lines."
Maddy shook her head. "Well then, I guess I'll have to pick." She looked at Veronica and sighed. "Let me think about it.
Maybe I can work this out with Isaac first. Maybe he won't mind if we are friends."
Veronica shrugged. "Just do the right thing Maddy. And we both know what that is."
"Yeah..."

Joey held her knees to her chest. This was a freaky movie. Jessica kept her eyes right on the t.v. She didn't want to miss a
minute of the movie.
"Come on! Lets go!"
"No! I have to see who it is! It will all end if we know!"
"No! Who cares? Come on!!"
"I'm going back..."
They were all waiting to see if the killer would have the mask removed.
"Take it off!!" Jessica yelled to the t.v.
"Shh!!" Zac put his finger up to his lips.
A minute later, they saw another bloody death scene.
Isaac paused the movie. "I gotta get a drink. Be right back."
Taylor was stull stuffing his face with popcorn. "Tay, how much can you eat?" Zac asked with slight humor in his voice.
"I'm hungry..."
Joey looked down at their bowl. It was almost empty. Isaac walked back in a few minutes later with some soda. He sat down
and picked up the romote. "Everyone ready to watch?"
Before anyone could answer, the lights went out.
"What the..." Taylor stood up.
"Oh my god...this happened and we had a tornado!! We can't have another tornado!! I can't deal with that..." Zac was freaking
out now.
"Would you get a hold of yourself Zac! We probably just blew a fuse or something. I'll go out in the garage to see." Isaac
stumbled into the kitchen and found a lighter. He went over to the back door and faced everyone.
"Sit still...don't move...I'll be right back." He opened up the door and vanished into the dark garage.
Taylor gulped. "You know what they said in the first Scream movie. Never say 'I'll be right back' cause you'll never return."
They all looked at each other. "Yeah, but it's just a movie Tay." Jessica said, breaking the few seconds of silence.
A huge bang made them all jump.
"What was that??" Zac asked.
"I don't know...lets find out. But, Joey, Jessie. Go upstairs and get Avery. There's a flashlight in the kitchen."
They nodded and walked slowly into the kitchen.
Taylor and Zac started over to the door...slowly.
