Taylor chased Zac around the yard with a hose.
"You're gonna get it ZACCCC!!!" He was soaking wet. Zac had dumped a
whole bucket of water over his head. Taylor chased
him and got him good a few times. Zac fell to the ground laughing
hysterically. Taylor ran over to him and started
tickling him.
"AHH!! Ok, stop! I can't take it anymore!!"
They two boys rolled around in the grass having
a blast.
Isaac pulled up in the driveway, finally home
from taking Jessica to the dentist. She jumped out and ran past her brothers
and
inside.
He looked at his watch. It read: 1:45. He stared
at his brothers. He shook his head. He got out of the car and walked over
to
his grass stained, wet, dirty brothers.
"Nice fashion statement Tay."
Taylor looked up at Isaac then at his clothes.
He had a white t-shirt on that was now torn, covered in mud, and sorta
green. He
jumped off the ground and tried to straighten
his tangled hair.
Isaac laughed. "What are you guys doing? You're
never like this."
Zac giggled and Taylor smiled. "We're just having
fun." He took his foot and lighty kicked Zac in the butt as he was standing
up.
Isaac laughed. "So... what time are you going
over to Phoebe's?"
"Oh um, around two... I think. Yeah, I have to
be there in a little bit."
"What do you two do over there?" Isaac gave him
the same look he always did whenever Taylor was around a girl.
He just rolled his eyes. "Just stuff Ike. Jeez,
you make me sound perverted." He started walking over to the front door.
"Come on Tay. You know I didn't mean it like
that."
Taylor turned around. "Yeah sure... whatever
Ike. You know, she's a cool person. I like being around her. Stop giving
me grief
about it ok?" He crossed his arms.
Isaac dropped his mouth open. "Grief? I'm not.
I just think it's cute that you like this girl."
"There you go again! Cute?? You think it's cute??
You make me sound like I'm twelve or something."
Zac was now standing by Isaac's side. "Hey now.
I'm twelve."
Taylor ignored his little brother. "Just knock
it off already. It's getting old." With that, he turned around and went
inside the
house.
Isaac looked at Zac. "What side of the bed did
he wake up on? Gosh, I was just kidding with him. You know that's how I
am."
"Yeah, true Ike. But he really likes Phoebe.
I guess he's just sensitive about the whole subject." Zac bent over and
tied his
shoelace.
"Yeah, you're probably right. I'll just let him
cool off a bit."
Zac smiled and started off down the sidewalk.
"Where are you going?"
"Oh, just for a walk. I'll be back in a little
while." He waved.
"Ok, be careful!"
"I will!"
Isaac watched his brother walk a little ways
down the sidewalk, then went inside.
Phoebe was now downstairs. Her father had brought
the wheelchair down and then he carried her down. She rolled into the
living room.
"Wow, I feel like I haven't even lived down here."
Her mother smiled. "Are you sure you are able
to sit up dear? I don't want you in any pain at all."
"No, I'm fine. Actually, it feels good to sit
up."
"Well alright then. Oh, you got a letter in the
mail today." Georgia got off the sofa and went into the kitchen grabbing
the
envelope. She handed it to her.
It was from her best friend, Judy. She opened
it up. Judy had put a piece of gum in the letter. She popped it into her
mouth and
began to read.
By the time she had finished reading, she had
tears in her eyes.
"Mom, I miss her so much."
Georgia walked over and sat beside her. "I know
you do." She thought for a second. "How about after you are better, we
send
Judy a ticket and let her come visit you here?"
Phoebe looked up and wiped away her tears. "Really?
You mean that?"
Her mom smiled. "Yes, I do. I will have her come
here."
She smiled and hugged her mother. "Thank you
so much! I couldn't ask for anything more!"
Georgia laughed. "Well, you deserve it." She
kissed her forehead.
Phoebe giggled and began to read her letter once
more.
Taylor took a shower and changed into some clean
clothes. He pulled his wet hair into a ponytail and left for Phoebe's house
a
few minutes later.
Phoebe was laying on the sofa flipping through
the channels being bored. She had just taken her medicine and was a little
sleepy. Georgia walked in the living room just
as she was nodding off.
"Phoebe? Hon, wake up."
She opened her eyes a little.
"I'm going now. I'll see you later tonight. Taylor
should be here soon." She gave her daughter a kiss on the cheek.
"Bye mom. I'll see you later."
"Bye!" She waved and shut the door.
Phoebe rolled over and closed her eyes.
Taylor walked down the sidewalk and up her driveway.
He knocked on the door. No answer. He rang the doorbell. Still no
answer. He shrugged and turned the doorknob finding
that it was open.
"Hello? Phoebe are you here?" He walked in the
foyer and looked around. Then he noticed her passed out on the sofa. He
smiled a little and walked over to her.
"Phoebe?"
She stirred a little but didn't wake up. He decided
not to wake her. Instead he got her a blanket and covered her up. Sitting
down on the other end of the sofa, he picked
up the romote and flipped though the channels.
Isaac went outside and decided to take a walk.
"I'm bored... so bored. I'm alone... so alone..." He sang to himself causing
a
smile to creep across his face. "I am so bored
that I am talking to myself." He laughed and shoved his hands into his
pockets.
He found himself at the park a few minutes later.
Walking over by the fountain, he sat down on a bench.
He sat there for a good ten minutes before he
got bored again. Reaching in his pocket he pulled out a penny. He walked
over
to the fountain to make a wish.
"I wish that I wasn't so bored." Isaac tossed
the penny in causing a small splash. He stood there staring at the water
when he
heard a girl screaming.
"Help! I can't stop! Move out of the way!"
Before he could react, the girl slammed into
him causing them both to fall into the water. He sat up and brushed his
soaking wet
hair out of his face. He looked over at the girl.
"I'm so sorry! My rollerblade brakes gave out.
I couldn't stop." She rubbed her eyes causing her mascarra to run.
Isaac smiled and laughed a little.
"What? What's so funny??" She asked looking at
herself.
"Nothing... well you just messed up your makeup."
"Oh my god!" She grabbed her mirror out of her
wet purse and looked at herself.
"AHH! I look like a freak!!!" She quickly stood
up, falling once and jumped out of the water.
"Wait!" He yelled as she was leaving. "What's
your name?"
"Um, um... I gotta go." She yanked off her blades
and ran, leaving Isaac soaking wet and wondering.
Taylor was watching MTV and was getting pretty
sick of it. "The same videos all the time..." He said and turned off the
t.v.
Phoebe opened her eyes a little and noticed that
someone else was in the room. She yawned and sat up a bit. He looked over
at her.
"Hey! Awake now?"
She smiled. "Yeah. I can't believe I fell asleep
like that! I must be tired." She looked over and the coffee table and noticed
her
bottle of medicine. "Ah, ok. Yeah that's why
I passed out." She pointed to the table.
He picked up the bottle and read it over. "That's
an awful high dosage you have to take."
She nodded. "Yeah, but it gets rid of my pain.
But, I do get sick to my stomach sometimes. I threw up the first time I
took it in
the hospital."
Taylor frowned a little. "Are you sure you should
be taking it? Maybe you should talk to your doctor about it."
"Well, maybe I can ask him about it. But I really
am ok once it gets in my system."
He sighed. He didn't like it that the medicine
caused her to pass out. Maybe he was just worried. He stood up and felt
her
head.
"You feel like you have a fever! I'm going to
take your temperature."
Taylor went into the bathroom and looked behind
the medicine cabinet. Grabbing the thermometer, he left the bathroom and
went back down the hallway.
"Ok, sit up just a little." He slid a pillow
behind her back.
"Taylor, really I'm ok..." Before she could finish
speaking, he put the thermometer in her mouth causing her to stop talking.
She watched as he went into the hall closet and
grabbed a washcloth. Her eyes followed him as he went into the kitchen
and
soaked it with cool water. The thermometer beeped
and Taylor walked over and took it out of her mouth.
"Oh no... you have a 102 fever!"
She crossed her arms. "Well, I do feel really
hot and I have the chills. But I didn't think I had a fever that high!"
Taylor rubbed his head. "Ok, well I know how
to handle this. Zac had a really high fever a few months ago and I had
to tend to
him. What I need to do now, is lower your temperature
enough, so that I don't have to take you to the doctor."
She listened to him. He really knew what he was
talking about.
"Alright, let's get you back in your wheel chair.
You need to take a luke warm bath. That should lower it enough."
"What? Oh jeez... alright, I think I can manage
that."
"Good." He replied, helping her into the chair.
Taylor pushed her down the hallway and into the
downstairs bathroom. "Ok, now can you get yourself undressed?"
She nodded. "Yeah, I can do that. My back doesn't
really hurt right now."
"Ok, cool. Now, I'm going to run the bath and
then you just do whatever you do when you take one."
"Ok." Phoebe smiled.
He turned the water on and got it the right temperature.
After the tub was filled, he left the bathroom and closed the door. He
went into the hall closet again and grabbed some
sheets and a warm blanket. He then turned the sofa into a bed. He tucked
the
bottom sheet into the cushions and then he ran
upstairs and grabbed her pillow. He slid a fresh pillow case on it and
finished
making up the sofa.
"Cozy!" Was all he said looking at the finished
product. He smiled. His mom would be so proud of him. He was always the
one
helping whenever anyone got sick.
All of a sudden, he remembered something. He
went back up to Phoebe's room in search of some clean clothes. Spotting
a
stack of socks, p.j's and well undergarments,
he quickly grabbed them and her robe and carried them all downstairs. He
knocked on the door and placed the stack outside.
"Phoebe, there are some clothes outside the door
for you. Oh, and your robe."
"Oh thank you so much Taylor! I'll be out in
a little while."
He smiled. "Ok, I'll be in the kitchen." He turned
and left the hallway.
Phoebe sat in her wheel chair wearing her robe
and p.j's. She turned the chair around and wheeled it out of the bathroom.
Taylor heard her and went to the bathroom.
"I'll push you." He took the handles and pushed
her into the living room.
"I made a bed for you."
She smiled. "Wow, thanks Taylor. That was thoughtful
of you."
"It's no problem. Here let me help you lay down."
He got her out of the chair and into the "bed".
He covered her up with the blanket.
"Alright, let me take your temperature again
to see if this made a difference."
He put the thermometer back into her mouth and
waited. A minute later it beeped.
"Ok, this is alot better. You only have 100.1
fever." He smiled at her.
"Gee, aren't you smart? I had no idea a bath
would lower your temp."
"Yeah, well my mom showed me that. Here." He
placed the cool wash cloth on her head.
"Thanks. That feels nice." She gave him a smile
and then closed her eyes.
Taylor sat down in the cushioned chair and watched
her fall back asleep.
Isaac had changed and was now home, sitting in
his room thinking. His thoughts were interupted when Zac stomped into the
room and plopped down on his bed.
"Zac, don't you know how to knock?"
Zac stuck his tounge out. "Yeah well it's my
room too. I don't have to knock." He rolled over and stuck his head under
his
pillow.
Isaac frowned a little. "Is something wrong?"
He saw Zac sigh.
"Maybe..."
He went over and sat on his bed. Zac rolled over
to face him.
"Did something happen to you?"
"It's nothing really. Except that some stupid
girl who was running around in her socks carrying her blades, ran into
me, causing
me to fall on my arm. She didn't even stop to
say she was sory or anything!. I thought I broke my arm it hurt so bad!"
He held
up his arm to reveal a large dark bruise.
"That's pretty bad. I'll go get mom." He got
up and left the room. Halfway down the stairs he realized just what Zac
had said.
He ran back in the room. "Did you say a girl
who was carrying blades?"
"Yeah, what's it to you?" Zac questioned.
"That same girl ran into me at the park and caused
the both of us to fall into the fountain." He held up his wet shirt.
"Wow, she must have a thing for knocking over
Hansons!" Zac laughed a little.
"I don't know... there's something up with her.
I asked for her name and she looked freaked out and wouldn't even answer
me.
Then she just left."
Zac looked at his arm. "This is really starting
to hurt. Get mom please! We'll talk about the mystery girl later."
Isaac sighed a little. "Alright, be right back."
Phoebe was still sleeping and it was six in the
evening. Taylor decided to make some dinner and then wake her up. He opened
up the pantry and looked around. Since she had
a fever and all, he thought that soup would be the best. He took out two
cans
of chicken noodle and some crackers. He poured
both cans into a pot and turned the stove on. Just then, there was a small
knock at the door. He quickly answered it to
find Isaac on the front porch.
"Hey Tay! Thought I'd come over for a little
while."
Taylor smiled. "Be quiet though ok? Phoebe has
a fever and is asleep on the sofa."
"Oh ok. I will." Isaac walked over and looked
at Phoebe.
Taylor shut the door, being extra quiet.
"She's a cutie Tay. Even when she is sick."
He rolled his eyes. "Gee, thanks Ike. What have
you been up to today?"
Isaac sat down on the other sofa. "Well, I went
swimming with some strange girl in the fountain at the park."
Taylor laughed. "Please tell me that was an accident."
"Yes, it was. The girl broke her blades and went
crashing into me."
"Wow, that probably looked funny. Too bad I missed
it!"
Isaac shook his head. "Yeah it was a Kodac moment.
I didn't even get her name. And she was cute too."
"Why didn't you get her name?"
"Well, I asked for it... then she looked freaked
out and left. Very strange."
"Yeah... that is strange." He sat down beside
Isaac. "So, where's Zac at?"
"Oh, yeah... well the same girl ran into Zac
and she knocked him over too. He was upset because she didn't say she was
sorry
and he also thought that he had broken his arm."
"Man, this girl is a disaster waiting to happen.
Is he ok now?"
"Yeah, except that he has a pretty big bruise
on his arm from the fall."
Taylor winced. "Man, bruises suck."
Isaac glanced over at the kitchen stove. "What
are you making?"
"Some soup for dinner. I figured she won't want
to eat something really heavy you know?"
Isaac nodded. "Yeah, soup is good. I'd better
let you go now. What time will you be home tonight?" He stood up and walked
to the door.
"Mrs. Blue called and said around nine. They
are getting off earlier than she thought."
"This is great... ok, do you want to go see a
movie tonight? They have a new horror flick playing for the late show."
"Sure! That sounds like fun."
"Alright, see you then Tay."
"Bye!" He shut the door and went over to wake
up Phoebe.
